Target: Steve Allen, Captain of San Bernadino County, CA Sheriff’s Department
Goal: Support investigation and arrests made in alleged cockfighting ring operation.
A vague tip about suspect activity at a California business led to the takedown of an alleged cockfighting ring involving dozens of roosters. It is reported that 24 roosters were unfortunately found deceased on the premises, while nearly five dozen living roosters were rescued. Cockfighting has emerged as a serious and rampant crime across the nation, as demonstrated by this ForceChange petition and this petition.
During the course of their investigation of the business, authorities found key evidence that appeared to support their suspicions. Collected evidence allegedly included gaffs, scorecards, weapons, thousands of dollars, and a seeming ongoing cockfight. Multiple people had also reportedly fled the premises upon authorities’ arrival. The investigation ultimately led to 26 arrests.
Sign the petition below to commend the sheriff’s department in charge of the case on a job well done.
PETITION LETTER:
Dear Captain Allen,
“The Rural Crimes Team takes these investigations very seriously and will investigate them to the fullest, and suspects will be arrested,” your department said in a statement. Thank you, your team of deputies, and animal control officers who were able to secure the best possible outcome in the Hesperia cockfighting case. Because of your diligence, dozens of innocent animals were likely saved from alleged abuse and almost certain death.
Examples such as these demonstrate why cockfighting is a serious crime – that should always be treated as such — in the United States.
Sincerely,
