Harness Volcano Power for Clean Energy

Target: Chris Wright, U.S. Secretary of Energy

Goal: Analyze real-world applications for geothermal power.

A geothermal power plant will soon be based near one of the world’s hottest locations: the 600-plus degree Newberry Volcano. Starting in 2026, energy harnessed from the volcanic hotspot will be used to bring electricity to areas across the region. It is believed this project will deliver much more power than previous endeavors and that geothermal energy as a whole has the potential to create electricity at 150 times the rate worldwide as current electricity suppliers.

Advocates tout geothermal power as a clean energy source that could one day usurp dangerous and toxic fossil fuel pollutants. But risks remain, such as these plants unintentionally provoking volcanic activity. In addition, logistics still need to be sorted out concerning how to tap into these super-hot sources in a way that can be safely scaled up. Investors firmly believe rapidly evolving technology can help resolve these issues and present the world a workable and potentially game-changing energy alternative.

Sign the petition below to encourage further exploration and investment in this promising pathway toward cleaner, renewable power.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Secretary Wright,

The Newberry Volcano Project will provide a crucial window into the operations and the potential success of geothermal power. If this endeavor does prove successful, it could offer a roadmap to expanding an energy source that could give the world 150 times more electricity than it currently enjoys. Such a vast renewable energy source could be invaluable not only for civilizations, but for the planet that has endured the still-cascading consequences of long-term reliance on global-warming fossil fuels.

Please keep a close eye on this project and seek the counsel of the problem-solving minds who have made it possible. Geothermal power merits a much closer exploration of both its potential applications and its potential ramifications.

Sincerely,
