Puppy Allegedly Sexually Abused: Demand Police Hold Suspects Accountable

Target: Deven Bharti, Commissioner of Police, Mumbai Police, Maharashtra

Goal: Initiate criminal proceedings against the man accused of sexually abusing an animal and hold police accountable for seemingly not taking action.

A deeply disturbing incident has been reported from Malad’s Tanajinagar area, where a young puppy was seemingly subjected to sexual abuse inside a residential toilet. According to residents, the accused, a 20-year-old man living in the same chawl, was caught by locals after the puppy’s screams alerted them. The animal was immediately taken for medical treatment, where injuries to its private parts were reported.

Despite the seriousness of the suspected offence and the accused being handed over by residents, police allegedly failed to register a case and released him without taking action. Citizens were reportedly asked to return the next day, even as the injured puppy required urgent care. This has sparked public outrage and deep concern among animal welfare advocates and local residents.

Sexual violence against animals is a grave criminal offence and a known indicator of extreme violent tendencies. Failure to act decisively not only denies justice to the animal but also places the community at risk. Sign below to demand immediate accountability.

PETITION LETTER

To Commissioner Deven Bharti,

We write to express our shock and outrage over an incident in Malad, Mumbai, where a puppy was reportedly sexually abused by a local resident and the accused was apparently released without a report being registered.

Residents state that the accused was caught at the scene after the puppy’s cries drew attention. The animal was medically examined and found to have sustained injuries consistent with sexual assault. Despite this, police reportedly declined to register a case and released the accused, asking citizens to return later.

Sexual abuse of animals is a serious criminal offence under Indian law and demands immediate action. Such acts reflect dangerous behaviour that poses a threat not only to animals but to society at large. Police inaction in such cases erodes public trust and enables further violence.

We urge immediate registration of a report, arrest of the accused, a transparent investigation, and departmental review of the officers involved in failing to act. Justice for this animal is not optional. It is a legal and moral obligation.

Sincerely,
