Target: Trina M. Sears. District Attorney for Palmer, Alaska
Goal: Seek the maximum legal penalties against the individual(s) responsible for a home where nine rabbits, three goats, and a dog were reportedly found dead and dozens more animals were allegedly trapped in feces-soaked, air-choking kennels without water.
Authorities entered a private residence and discovered a scene that rescuers reported as overwhelming: nine dead rabbits, three dead goats, and a deceased dog, with nearly two dozen kennels allegedly caked in layers of filth and reeking ammonia. Bowls were reportedly bone-dry, and floors were said to be smeared with feces and urine. Two severely underweight dogs were apparently seized on-site, along with other surviving animals in visibly poor condition.
After obtaining a search warrant, officials allegedly removed 37 living dogs—many reportedly covered in excrement—and documented additional disturbing findings. Three more dead dogs were reportedly recovered from the property, while other animals—including lizards, a hedgehog, and cats—were apparently seized for urgent care. A veterinarian on scene is said to have called the conditions “inhumane,” reportedly describing small, stacked cages and environmental neglect that could cause intense suffering.
Swift and serious accountability is vital. When animals are reportedly left to languish amid waste, without water, and with corpses nearby, the law must send a clear message that such alleged cruelty will not be tolerated. Sign below to demand the fullest allowable penalties, restitution for the animals’ care, a lifetime ban on owning animals, and mandatory counseling or evaluation to ensure this case results in consequences that deter future neglect and protect vulnerable animals.
PETITION LETTER:
Dear District Attorney Sears,
We are writing regarding reports of egregious animal neglect in a local residence where authorities allegedly found nine dead rabbits, three dead goats, and a deceased dog, with additional animals reportedly confined in kennels layered with waste and reeking ammonia. Water bowls were reportedly empty, and floors were said to be covered in feces and urine—conditions that any veterinarian would deem dangerous and cruel.
Following a court-authorized search, officers reportedly seized 37 living dogs—many allegedly soiled and underweight—and recovered three more deceased dogs, while additional animals were apparently taken for veterinary attention. A veterinarian on scene is said to have described the conditions as “inhumane,” indicating an environment where animals would suffer intensely.
Given these reports, we respectfully urge your office to pursue the strongest charges and penalties available. Appropriate accountability should include incarceration where warranted, full restitution for the animals’ treatment and care, a lifetime prohibition on animal ownership, and mandatory psychological evaluation or counseling. Robust prosecution in this case will help deter similar alleged neglect and safeguard animals throughout the community.
Sincerely,
[Your Name Here]
