Target: Bruce Bartlett, State Attorney for the Sixth Judicial Circuit of Florida
Goal: Secure the highest possible felony sentence, mandatory counseling, and a lifelong ban on animal ownership for the person who reportedly punched a five-month-old puppy, slammed her into a crate, and soaked her in hot sauce and pickle juice.
A five-month-old pit-bull mix named Nova was reportedly subjected to horrifying abuse after an indoor accident. According to police, the puppy was lifted by her neck, repeatedly punched, and then thrown so forcefully against a metal crate that the door snapped off its hinges. Investigators say the accused did not stop there: once Nova lay injured, she was allegedly doused in hot sauce and pickle juice, left trembling in a crate surrounded by filth.
Responding officers apparently found Nova unable to bear weight on one hind leg, her small body covered in pungent liquids while she quaked with fear. A veterinarian later confirmed significant injuries and distress. The woman implicated in this cruelty has been arrested, and she purportedly admitted to the brutal acts.
Without firm, uncompromising consequences, such vicious treatment risks being repeated. Meaningful justice must include felony-level incarceration, substantial fines, mandated psychological evaluation, and a permanent prohibition on owning or caring for animals. Anything less would diminish Nova’s suffering and weaken deterrence against future abuse. Demand that prosecutors pursue the toughest penalties allowable under Florida law.
PETITION LETTER:
Dear State Attorney Bartlett,
Law enforcement officers recently documented a case of what appears to be extreme cruelty involving a five-month-old puppy named Nova. As reported, the defendant lifted Nova by the neck, punched her, and threw her against a metal crate so violently that the door broke. After these blows, the puppy was allegedly soaked in hot sauce and pickle juice and left trembling in her own waste. Nova’s injuries were reportedly severe enough that she could not place weight on one hind leg when police intervened.
Such apparently deliberate and repeated violence against a defenseless animal merits far more than minimal punishment. Acts that inflict both physical agony and psychological terror on a young puppy represent a blatant violation of Florida’s cruelty statutes and of basic decency. If the accused is allowed to avoid meaningful accountability, similar brutality may occur again.
We therefore respectfully urge your office to pursue the maximum felony convictions in this case, to seek restitution for all veterinary costs, to require psychological counseling, and to request a lifelong prohibition on animal ownership. A decisive sentence will honor Nova’s ordeal and reinforce this circuit’s zero-tolerance stance on animal cruelty.
Sincerely,
[Your Name Here]

This vicious act of brutality towards this innocent being is unimaginable. I hope the judge presiding over this case will find it appropriate to convict the owner of their heinous behaviour and hold them accountable.
