Demand Justice for Opossum Set on Fire for Video

Target: Michael Kyle Briggs, ED of the North Carolina Wildlife Resource Commission

Goal: Hold accountable those responsible for the horrific act of setting an opossum on fire and ensure they receive the appropriate felony charges.

The recent circulation of a disturbing video depicting an opossum being set on fire has horrified the community of Charlotte, North Carolina. This shocking incident, uploaded by the unknown perpetrators themselves, demonstrates a blatant disregard for animal life and well-being, prompting widespread outrage and calls for justice. Authorities from multiple agencies—including the FBI—are now involved in the investigation, which may lead to felony charges under both state and federal animal protection laws.

Witnesses to the video describe the perpetrator pouring a flammable liquid over the animal before igniting it. Experts emphasize that such actions not only cause immense suffering to individual animals but also pose a broader impact on societal safety, as studies have shown a concerning link between animal cruelty and violent behavior towards humans. The opossum, an integral part of the ecosystem, provides crucial ecological benefits and poses minimal threats to humans, underscoring the senselessness of this act.

This egregious act of animal cruelty demands immediate and appropriate punishment that reflects the severity of the actions taken against this helpless creature. An effective response must be initiated to convey that such barbaric treatment of animals will not be tolerated and to potentially deter similar acts in the future. By finding and holding accountable those responsible, the state can take a significant step toward safeguarding vulnerable wildlife and upholding the principles of ethical treatment and compassion.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Ms. McDonald,

The recent incident involving an opossum being set on fire in Charlotte, NC, has sparked outrage and concern among animal advocates and the public alike. A video of the incident uploaded by the perpetrators, displays a horrifying scene in which a person is seen dousing the opossum with a flammable liquid before igniting it. Such acts of cruelty not only inflict unimaginable pain and suffering on the animal but raise alarm regarding the potential for further violence in our communities.

As investigations by local law enforcement continue, it is crucial that those responsible for this heinous act are held accountable for their actions and face appropriate felony charges under both state and federal laws. The fact that there is a documented correlation between animal cruelty and violent crimes against humans supports the argument for serious repercussions. Experts have warned that individuals willing to inflict harm on vulnerable creatures could likely pose risks to human safety as well.

We urge your office to prioritize this case and ensure that justice is served for the opossum that suffered and for the integrity of animal welfare. It is vital to convey a clear message that animal cruelty will not be tolerated. The community is watching, and it is imperative that those involved in this gruesome incident are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Sincerely,

  5. Davide Alioto says:

Don’t petition, it’s useless. Only one way can it be solved. Set this person on fire with gasoline, you’ll see that the next person will think 10 times before doing it

  6. Wendy Morrison says:

FIND ALL THESE CRUEL AND ABUSIVE ASSHOLES AND DOUSE THEM ALL IN INFLAMMABKE FLUID AND THROW A LIGHTED MATCH ON EACH OF THEM AND MAKE SURE ALL THESE CRUEL AND ABUSIVE AND STUPID ASSHOLES HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO WAY TO PUT THEIR OWN FIRES AND LET THEM ALL DIE A HORRIFIC DEATHS!!!!

  7. Another demonstration of the inferiority of so many humans. Those humans have to resort to the killing or torture of animals to get attention. That’s the lowest level of intelligence there is. The person who did this needs to be punished for this senseless, horrific act. The public is owed that. We’re tired of the carnage inflicted on innocent animals by the lowest of the low, humans.

  8. What happened to the Opossum. Did it make it?

  9. Another example of the vein of poison that is running through this country, it seems however that in the southern states it is more of an artery. The monsters who are responsible for this type of deranged behaviour are not only highly dangerous psychopaths but also cause other more civilised countries to view America as a savage and brutal place that is moving backwards on the evolutionary scale now.

  10. Stephanie Geyser says:

I assume that if this pathetic-excuse-for-a-human-being ever (God forbid) fathers a child with his deviant sperm, he will do the same to his child. Better castrate him NOW, before he breeds children for him to cremate alive – like he did to the innocent and defenseless opossum. “The more helpless the victim, the greater the crime” (Dr Gerald Curtler).

  11. I hope the POS who tortured this innocent is found and brought to justice. Any human that hurts innocent animals, will eventually start doing the same to children and other decent humans.

  12. Julie Bates says:

Your bloody laws won’t hold and nothing will be done while the animals suffer nobody has the power or the brains to uphold any animal rights
Most of them are just filling their own damn pockets shame shame, shame
