Target: Carmine Marceno, Sheriff of Lee County, FL

Goal: Extend investigation into suspect accused of shooting and injuring stray cat with BB gun.

A feral cat in Florida may have been the victim of a vengeful attack. A woman who had been feeding the cat, nicknamed Patches, had noticed the animal limping one day. Upon examination, the woman discovered a small hole in the cat’s backside. A veterinarian suspected the injury to be the result of a BB gun pellet.

The woman who had been caring for Patches told authorities that a neighbor had allegedly threatened harm against the cat. A specific threat was reportedly made via text referencing a BB gun. The woman claims this neighbor had a stated history of attacking animals with BB guns.

Despite promises for a follow-up from authorities, no charges or arrests have yet resulted. Sign the petition below to demand an investigation into this alleged crime against an innocent animal.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Sheriff Marceno,

A case recently came across your desk involving an alleged BB gun assault against a stray cat. The woman who found and cared for the cat pointed you in the direction of a suspect who she claimed had made explicit threats against this animal. The last public notice given about this case stated that your deputies had “attempted” to talk to the suspect. More follow-up, as was promised, is needed.

Please revisit this investigation and send a clear message that violence inflicted on any innocent living being will not be tolerated.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
