Dogs Allegedly Starved and Abandoned by Dog Trainers Deserve Justice

Target: Ed Brodsky, Sarasota County State Attorney, Florida

Goal: Seek maximum penalties for those accused of neglecting and starving four dogs, resulting in their tragic deaths.

The neglect and suffering reportedly endured by four dogs under the care of the owners of “K9 Training for Heroes” has deeply shocked the Sarasota community and animal advocates nationwide. Natasha Wilhelm and Sean Hubschmitt, who operated a dog training business for veterans with PTSD, have been charged with animal cruelty after two dogs were reportedly found dead from starvation and two others were allegedly euthanized due to severe malnourishment and deteriorating health.

Authorities reported that the dogs, named Shylin, Tank, Rocky, and Piccolo, were left in appalling conditions in a Sarasota residence. Neighbors described the dogs as severely emaciated, confined in cages filled with feces, and denied basic necessities like food and water. When deputies entered the property, they reportedly found an overwhelming stench of decomposition and signs of extreme neglect. Necropsies apparently confirmed that starvation, not disease, was the cause of death for the deceased animals.

Animal cruelty is not just an isolated act of negligence; it is a breach of trust and humanity that must be met with firm consequences. The suffering of these innocent dogs was reportedly entirely preventable and highlights the urgent need for stronger accountability in cases of severe animal neglect.

We urge Sarasota County State Attorney Ed Brodsky to pursue the maximum penalties under the law for Natasha Wilhelm and Sean Hubschmitt to ensure justice for Shylin, Tank, Rocky, and Piccolo. By doing so, you can send a strong message that inhumane treatment of animals will not be tolerated and that those entrusted with their care will be held accountable.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear State Attorney Ed Brodsky,

The tragic case involving the reported starvation and neglect of four dogs by Natasha Wilhelm and Sean Hubschmitt has deeply saddened and angered animal advocates across Sarasota and beyond. These defenseless animals were allegedly left in horrendous conditions, denied food and water, and subjected to prolonged suffering that ultimately led to their deaths.

According to investigators, the dogs were abandoned in a residence filled with filth, with some apparently found deceased in their cages and others in such poor health that euthanasia was the only humane option. Per necropsy reports, starvation was the cause of death for two of the dogs, with no underlying disease present.

Such apparent acts of neglect are not only inhumane but also constitute a severe violation of animal welfare laws. The justice system must send a strong message by holding those responsible fully accountable for their actions.

We respectfully urge your office to pursue the maximum penalties allowable under the law against Natasha Wilhelm and Sean Hubschmitt. Their reported actions have caused irreversible harm and heartbreak, and justice must be served for the innocent lives lost.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
