Demand Justice for Seven Dogs Allegedly Shot Dead by Former Deputy

Target: The Honorable District Attorney, McNairy County, Tennessee

Goal: Ensure appropriate punishment for the former sheriff’s deputy who allegedly shot and killed seven dogs during an unwarranted animal welfare check.

In what appears to be a shocking and egregious case of animal cruelty, a former sheriff’s deputy in Tennessee reportedly shot and killed seven dogs while responding to a call regarding alleged malnourished animals. Connor Brackin, who had only been on the job for less than a month, arrived at the residence in Bethel Springs on November 4 to conduct a welfare check while the dogs’ guardians were out to dinner. Upon his arrival, Brackin allegedly opened fire with a rifle, resulting in the tragic deaths of the dogs, leaving their owners devastated and in disbelief upon their return home. This incident raises serious concerns about the actions taken by law enforcement officials in response to unfounded reports.

The owners of the dogs, Kevin Dismuke and his wife, reportedly discovered three of their beloved pets dead inside their home and four more outside. Dismuke expressed his utter shock and confusion, questioning the rationale behind Brackin’s actions, stating, “I don’t know where they come up with the idea that they were malnourished or abandoned.” Reports indicate that a call was made to law enforcement regarding the condition of the dogs at an abandoned home, which appears to have been unfounded. Such reckless disregard for life, particularly that of defenseless animals, cannot go unaddressed.

Demanding accountability and justice for such an alleged heinous act is essential to ensure that similar incidents do not occur in the future. The laws against animal cruelty exist to protect the vulnerable and maintain ethical standards amongst those tasked with enforcing the law. Therefore, it is imperative that the District Attorney’s office pursues the most stringent penalties against Connor Brackin, who faces charges of seven counts of aggravated cruelty to animals and eight counts of reckless endangerment.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear District Attorney,

The terrible events that transpired on November 4 in Bethel Springs demand immediate and serious attention to achieve justice for the seven dogs reportedly shot and killed by a former sheriff’s deputy, Connor Brackin, during an animal welfare check. This incident, which appears to lack justifiable cause, raises alarm about the conduct of law enforcement officers. Disturbingly, the owners arrived home to find three dogs dead inside and four more outside, leading to unanswered questions and unimaginable grief.

It has been reported that Brackin acted on a call concerning possibly malnourished dogs at an abandoned property. Yet, the owners vehemently contest this characterization, expressing disbelief that it could warrant such extreme action. The reported use of a rifle against these defenseless creatures incites outrage and highlights the urgent need for accountability. Brackin is now facing multiple charges related to cruelty and reckless endangerment; however, it remains crucial to ensure that he receives the appropriate legal consequences for this alleged act of violence against animals.

We respectfully urge your office to pursue the most severe penalties available under the law for Connor Brackin. This case is not only about seeking justice for the seven dogs but also about establishing a stern precedent regarding the treatment of animals and the responsibility of those in positions of authority. Please take swift and decisive action regarding this alleged crime against innocent lives.

Sincerely,
