Puppies Reportedly Locked in Freezer at Breeding Facility Deserve Justice

Target: Jane Howlett, Minister for Primary Industries and Water, Tasmania

Goal: Strengthen animal welfare legislation and enforcement to prevent severe cruelty and protect animals from abuse.

Animal welfare advocates in Tasmania are urgently calling for tougher animal protection laws following distressing reports of severe cruelty. Former workers at a now-closed puppy breeding facility have alleged inhumane practices including over-breeding, physical abuse of dogs, deceit of buyers, and being asked to place live puppies in freezers. Additionally, suspicions of extreme mistreatment at a local abattoir have raised serious concerns about the effectiveness of current legislation.

Kristy Alger, an animal welfare advocate, has campaigned for legislative changes for eight years. She recalls witnessing a dairy cow at Gretna Meatworks in 2016 suffering prolonged pain due to inadequate slaughtering practices. The cow, no longer productive in milk, was reportedly left with a broken leg, subjected to multiple failed stunning attempts, and improperly slaughtered.

Despite existing animal welfare laws that should prevent such incidents, advocates argue that enforcement is lacking, and the legislation does not effectively deter inhumane practices. The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) Tasmania has expressed anticipation for the release of the draft Dog Regulations Discussion Paper, which aims to address these critical issues.

All these disturbing accusations highlight significant gaps in animal welfare protections and the urgent need for legislative reform. Take action now.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Minister Jane Howlett,

I am writing to express deep concern over recent reports of severe animal cruelty in Tasmania, including allegations from former workers at a closed puppy breeding facility and accounts of inhumane treatment at an abattoir. These distressing incidents suggest that current animal welfare laws are insufficient in preventing abuse and ensuring the humane treatment of animals.

Despite existing legislation intended to protect animals, the reported recurrence of such cruel practices indicates a lack of effective enforcement and deterrence. Animals continue to suffer unnecessarily due to gaps in the law and inadequate oversight. Strengthening animal welfare legislation and its enforcement is crucial to prevent further instances of abuse and to promote ethical treatment.

I urge you to take immediate action to enhance the legal protections for animals in Tasmania. This includes implementing stricter regulations, increasing penalties for violations, and ensuring robust enforcement mechanisms. By doing so, you will help safeguard the well-being of animals and reflect the community’s expectation for humane and ethical treatment.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

  3. Absolutely disgusting!! How could you live with yourself?
    Jail or deep freeze them!!!

  4. Sadly we are here day after day signing petitions to force to charge animal abusers with the highest of felony charges but many get to walk away with absolutely no charges or jail time why? You have the power to make change please do something stop the horrific pain and suffering towards innocent animals who didn’t ask for any of this they didn’t ask to be born into a hate filled world either protect them the most vulnerable…..

NO TOLERANCE FOR CRUELTY AND NO MERCY FOR ANIMAL TORTURERS !

  8. Mary McMahon says:

Fucking humans. I hate them. KARMA TO ALL ANIMAO ABUSERS. THE WORST KIND OF KARMA.

  9. Tasmania is supposed to be a civilized country but like so many other “civilized” country this shit happens.
I’m so sick of signing petions on a lot of different platforms day after day after day, hoping it makes a difference. Does it?
Courts and judges need to start and do their bit to help end these horrors.

    • Marlene De- Abe says:

No – it is the government of Tasmania who are not “civilised”. The salmon farming industry which takes place in Tasmania has just had the RSPCA approval taken away from them for cruel practices. This party also approves of live animal export so this story does not surprise me. We are having a federal election in a few weeks so I would urge all voters down there NOT to support a party that approves animal cruelty (you have other candidates)

  10. As an Australian taxpayer I resent my tax dollars being used to house criminals who perpetrate heinous crimes against animals. Kill all these fuckers and spend the money on animal welfare.

  11. Susan Rodriguez says:

Words fail me. Every day we sign petitions and the cruelty keeps getting worse. Punishments need to be more severe. No one should get away with harming defenceless animals.

  12. Wendy Morrison says:

PUT ALL THESE CRUEL & ABUSIVE ASSHOLES INTO A FREEZER AND LOCK IT AND DO NOT OPEN IT EVER!! STOP ALL ANIMAL CRUELTY AND ABUSE TOWARDS ALL ANIMALS ALL OVER THE WORLD IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!

  13. Is everyone just an asshole? These acts of cruelty keep solidifying why I can’t stand people.

  14. Maria Lavorato says:

Jane Howlett, Minister for Primary Industries and Water, Tasmania

Your laws against animal cruelty need to be totally rewritten. The way it stands now these vicious people are not deterred. It is in YOUR hands!

I am happy to hear this that this puppy breeding facility has been shutdown. However, did all the individuals that worked there and the individual who owned the place get charged accordingly? If not, they can just reopen elsewhere!!!!!!!

These innocent beings were tortured in every which way. Don’t let this horror continue!!!!!!!

….and further the little cow who probably for years unselfishly provided milk for humans was subjected to abuse and pain when she was in need. Mother fuckers this is an abomination!!!! Is this GRATITUDE!!!!! Let them all be prosecuted!!!!!!

I wish them all eternal pain!!!!! PAIN BACK IS JUSTICE !!!!!!!

  15. Chris Peysson says:

    Justice for these puppies

  16. Mariska Meszaros says:

Cruelty to animals, regardless of the industry or circumstances, should NEVER, EVER be tolerated.
Tougher penalties such as prison time and fines are needed, especially in extreme cases of animal cruelty!
Legislation needs to change with regards to animal cruelty.

  17. Agree all comments torture people who do this. Then leave to die slow. Justice now and laws need to do the job payed for and get rid of these people. Don’t deserve to live.

  18. Fechem esses monstros assassinos num congelador até morrerem! Este mundo está cheio de gente malvada que não merece viver!

  19. SICK MOTHER FUCKERS, I WOULD LOVE TO KILL YOU ALL….ROT IN HELL

  20. Urszula Lund says:

No animal deserves to be a victim of DEHUMANIZED, DESENSITIZED and MENTALLY-DERANGED SADISTIC PSYCHOPATHS!!
NO animal-abuser should get away with such a horrific crime.
LAWMAKERS, stop these crimes by establishing harsh punishments for animal abuse! It’s your duty as humans.
Tormenting, neglecting and killing animals has a brutalizing effect on our society and mankind as a whole.
ALL pathological human monsters must be severely punished. They must also be forbidden from coming near animals ever again.
SET a PRECEDENT, and punish to the full extent of the law!
MAX JAIL or DEATH PENALTY for these sadistic scumbags!
