A shocking case of apparent animal hoarding has surfaced in Wildwood, Missouri, where officials allegedly removed over 150 cats from a home after receiving a welfare check call on August 28. When St. Louis County officers arrived at the home, they reportedly discovered more than 60 cats inside, along with two adults. The conditions were reportedly so severe that St. Louis County Animal Care & Control officers were called in to remove the animals.
In addition to the overwhelming number of cats, reports indicate that dead cats were found in a deep freezer on the property. The situation has raised significant concerns about both animal and elder abuse, with family members alleging that they had tried to involve police for over a year. Carolyn Haydon, whose mother and father lived in the home, expressed fears of neglect and mistreatment, stating that her mother’s death may have been linked to ongoing neglect.
The local animal shelters that have taken in the rescued cats are now pleading for help to clear space and care for these animals. This case highlights the urgent need for thorough investigation into the abuse and neglect at the home, as well as for the community to step forward and support the overwhelmed shelters caring for these cats.

The couple hoarding the cats is insane. All were living in filth? Take the cats and help as you can. The adults need to be given mental competency tests. These people are probably insane and not able to care for themselves much less 150 cats. The couple must pay for the vet and medical costs for all the cats. Take everything they own, if need be, to pay the medical costs. This took a long time to be reported however now there is a need for these people to have a lifelong ban on ever owning, working with, or being near any animals for the rest of their lives. We, who try to help, are given scant information. The court must decide but remember tax payers and regular people do not want to live with this the of person.
