Demand Stricter Punishment for Owner Who Let Dog Die From Severe Obesity

Target: Christopher Luxon, Prime Minister of New Zealand

Goal: Ensure the owner faces the maximum legal consequences for her extreme neglect, resulting in Nuggi’s death.

A tragic case of animal neglect has emerged in Auckland, New Zealand, where a woman allowed her dog, Nuggi, to become so obese that he eventually died. Nuggi, weighing nearly 120 pounds, was found unable to move due to his severe obesity. Despite losing weight under SPCA care, Nuggi succumbed to liver complications. His owner, who pleaded guilty to neglect, received a two-month jail sentence and a fine. However, given the severity of Nuggi’s suffering and the owner’s blatant disregard for his well-being, this punishment seems insufficient.

Nuggi’s obesity was so extreme that veterinarians couldn’t hear his heartbeat due to the thick layer of fat. He suffered from multiple health issues, including liver disease and Cushing’s disease, overgrown claws, and numerous skin growths. The SPCA revealed that Nuggi’s owner fed him up to 10 pieces of chicken a day, along with dry food, failing to provide a balanced diet and necessary exercise.

The authorities must reassess the penalties for such severe cases of animal neglect to ensure justice for Nuggi and to prevent future incidents of similar cruelty. Stricter punishment would serve as a deterrent to others and emphasize the importance of responsible pet ownership. Take immediate action.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear PM Christopher Luxon,

I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the recent case of severe animal neglect in Auckland, where a woman allowed her dog, Nuggi, to become so obese that he eventually died. Despite the owner’s guilty plea and subsequent sentencing to two months in jail, this punishment appears insufficient given the extent of Nuggi’s suffering and the clear neglect demonstrated.

Nuggi’s extreme obesity, multiple health issues, and subsequent death highlight a significant failure in responsible pet ownership. It is essential to ensure that such severe cases of neglect are met with appropriate legal consequences to deter future occurrences and emphasize the importance of proper animal care.

I urge you to reassess the penalties for this case and advocate for stricter punishment to reflect the gravity of the neglect inflicted upon Nuggi. By doing so, we can ensure justice for Nuggi and send a strong message that animal cruelty will not be tolerated.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

  1. Is this stupidity? Is it not caring for her dog? Is she out of touch with reality?
It seems so. Will she be able to get another dog? Another pet? She will repeat this act again? Sometimes people and their actions are beyond comprehension.

  2. Whether a dog is starved or overfed, they still suffer!!! This so-called “owner” should NEVER be allowed to have another animal!!!
