Alleged Animal Abuse by Airline Crew Deserves Immediate Attention

Target: Mr. Scott Kirby, CEO of United Airlines, Illinois

Goal: Ensure proper investigation and enforce policies that protect animals during flights to prevent any alleged mistreatment and ensure the welfare of pets traveling with passengers.

In a distressing incident, New York City artist Ashley Longshore shared a now-deleted video alleging mistreatment by United Airlines crew during a flight from Newark to New Orleans. Longshore claimed the crew threatened to have her removed from the flight if she tried to give her Brussels Griffon dog water, forcing her to keep the dog confined under her seat for the three-hour journey. This incident, which Longshore described as animal abuse, has sparked outrage among animal lovers and raised serious concerns about the airline’s pet policies.

Longshore’s emotional video showed her with tears streaming down her face as she recounted the experience. According to an article published by the New York Post, the video garnered significant attention with 6,914 likes and 974 comments before it was taken down. United Airlines stated that the crew followed the airline’s pet policy, which requires pets to remain in carriers throughout the flight.

This incident highlights the urgent need for airlines to review and update their pet policies to ensure the well-being of animals during flights. The alleged mistreatment of Longshore’s dog is not only distressing but also raises questions about the enforcement of such policies and the treatment of passengers traveling with pets. Take immediate action.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Scott Kirby,

We are writing to express our deep concern over the recent incident involving artist Ashley Longshore and her Brussels Griffon dog during a United Airlines flight from Newark to New Orleans. Longshore has alleged that your crew threatened to remove her from the flight for attempting to give her dog water, forcing her to keep the dog confined under her seat for three hours. This treatment, which Longshore described as animal abuse, is deeply troubling and raises serious concerns about the welfare of pets traveling with your airline.

The emotional distress shown by Longshore in her video and the subsequent outcry from the public highlight the urgent need for a thorough investigation into this incident. While we understand the importance of adhering to pet policies, it is equally important to ensure that these policies do not result in the mistreatment or neglect of animals.

We urge you to immediately review and update United Airlines’ pet policies to ensure the safety and well-being of pets during flights. Training crew members on handling such situations with care and compassion is essential. Additionally, we request that you address the concerns raised by Longshore and provide a clear explanation of the steps being taken to prevent such incidents in the future.

The welfare of animals is a matter of great concern, and we believe that United Airlines has a responsibility to ensure that all passengers, including those traveling with pets, are treated with respect and care. Please take the necessary actions to address this issue and prevent any further alleged animal mistreatment.

Sincerely,

  1. I understand the need to keep the pet in a carrier at all times but if no one was seated next to her why could she not just open the carrier a bit and give the dog water and/or move the closed carrier to her lap to give the dog some air. Sounds a little excessive to not allow water.
