Target: Kirk Martin, District Attorney for Tioga County, NY
Goal: Prosecute suspects accused of severely neglecting 100-plus farm animals to fullest extent.
Two men are facing animal cruelty charges in a case involving five horses, 17 goats, and about 100 cows. These animals were reportedly rescued from a New York-based farm in Owego and are currently being cared for and placed in new homes. Investigators allege signs of serious neglect, and that at least two already-deceased goats were discovered during the rescue. Patrick Champaign and Adam Romanik were identified as the accused.
Charges filed against the men include failure to provide proper sustenance, food, and drink as well as overdriving, torturing, and injuring animals. Each count violates the state’s Agricultural and Markets Law. Authorities say more charges could be pending after the investigation is completed.

PETITION LETTER:
Dear District Attorney Martin,
Animals involved in agriculture face some of the most severe and unchecked acts of neglect, abuse, and cruelty. The allegations against Adam Romanik and Patrick Champaign, who are charged with dozens of violations of New York law against over 100 animals, speak to the seriousness of this problem. These suspects could soon face even more allegations.
Please ensure proper charges and penalties are pursued as this case continues. Affirm that any act of alleged cruelty will not be tolerated.
Sincerely,
