I believe that hoarding situations are quite different from normal abuse in which a person or persons knowingly abuses animals. I feel terrible for the animals involved, but the “abuser” is suffering from a mental problem. Hoarders can “collect” various things. It can be newspapers, knick-knacks, or anything imaginable. I have been in hoarders homes and it is scary. But to hoard living creatures is the worst. The animals are hoarded, because the person truly loves them, but it becomes impossible to maintain their health and a clean environment. This person needs help and the animals need good homes.
