Dogs Allegedly Shot Point-Blank and Left With Severe Injuries Deserves Justice

Target: Glenn Funk, District Attorney of Nashville, Tennessee

Goal: Enforce strict legal consequences for the reported heinous acts of animal cruelty in Nashville.

Neglect and cruelty towards animals in Nashville have reached an alarming level. Reports of dogs shot point-blank and left with severe injuries are not only deeply disturbing but highlight a significant issue in animal welfare. These acts, described by Lavonne Redferrin of Proverbs 12:10 Animal Rescue, appear to reflect a horrifying disregard for life and well-being. With the recent reported surge in such cases, urgent action is necessary to protect these defenseless creatures.

The recent meeting of Metro Councilmembers, the Nashville District Attorney, and animal welfare organizations underscores the gravity of the situation. Distressing accounts, like dogs close to death due to neglect and inadequate facilities at Metro Nashville Animal Care and Control (MACC), paint a grim picture. Director Ashley Harrington’s allegations of the dire state of the facility and the legal hurdles in rescuing animals, further exacerbate this issue. The narrative of two dogs, seen allegedly in appalling conditions on social media yet found in seemingly better circumstances during a welfare check, illustrates the challenges faced in rescuing these animals.

Amending Nashville’s animal abuse code is essential. The current situation, where animals apparently suffer due to legal and logistical limitations, is unacceptable. These changes can ensure that animals in distress are rescued promptly and that perpetrators face stringent legal repercussions. It’s time for concrete action to ensure the safety and dignity of all animals in Nashville. Demand that laws be strengthened to enable quicker intervention in cases of suspected animal abuse.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear District Attorney Glenn Funk,

The escalating instances of reported animal cruelty in Nashville are not just alarming but a call to action for legal reform. We cannot turn a blind eye to atrocities inflicted upon innocent animals. Your involvement in the recent meeting with Metro Councilmembers and animal welfare groups highlights the significance of this issue. However, more needs to be done.

The heartbreaking cases of animal abuse, like dogs reportedly shot and left with severe injuries, demand not just our empathy but decisive legal action. The challenges faced by MACC in rescuing and housing these animals, as outlined by Director Harrington, must be addressed. Nashville’s animal abuse code needs urgent amendment to remove barriers in rescuing animals and enable stricter enforcement against those responsible for such cruelty.

We urge you to take a firm stand against animal cruelty. Strengthen the laws to allow for immediate intervention in abuse cases and ensure that perpetrators are held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. Our community’s moral fabric depends on how we treat the most vulnerable. Let’s make Nashville a leading example in animal welfare and justice.

Sincerely,

  3. DA Funk,
What is happening in Nashville? For that matter in all of Tennessee? Are we living with human beings or monsters? Often when people refer to the South as hicks I object. We are all smart enough to know right from wrong. These ignorant idiots carry guns, grab animals make them lie down and then shoot them. They are not any better shooters or humans as the dogs don’t die quickly but languish in pain, torture, and agony until they die. Finally getting relief from living in this God foresakin world. God did not create monsters but these folks continue to flaunt their stupidity at their creator. That is the maximum of stupidity! The legal system is broken and in Tennessee it’s probably dead by now. You have allowed laws NOT to protect the innocent, Fix this. How would you feel if these vermin got hold of your loved ones? You would puke! So do all we who read about how horrendous your state is and loath them for being so evil. To shoot dogs leaving them in agony should be met with shooting the ones who did the crime but have the shooters shoot to not kill immediately but to hurt like a SOB! Do not help this scum die quickly but allow them to stay in the street, in agony, in sheer desperation until the Angel of Death takes them from their misery. They deserve no less! Death by lingering may be a new form of punishment and possibly stop these fools from causing only harm to others. Animals deserve love not scum.
