Apparently Sick and Injured Pigs Forced to Cannibalize Each Other on Farm Deserve Justice

Target: Luis Planas, Minister of Animal Welfare and Ethics, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment, Spain

Goal: Ensure immediate legal consequences for alleged animal cruelty at a certified pig farm.

In a recent probe, shocking allegations emerged about a pig farm in Quintanilla del Coco, Burgos. The farm, with a capacity for around 5,000 pigs, allegedly displayed conditions that are nothing short of nightmarish. The Spanish NGO Animal Welfare Observatory (OBA) provided evidence of severely injured pigs, contaminated food, and, most disturbingly, frequent acts of cannibalism among the animals. Such conditions, if true, reflect a gross violation of animal welfare norms.

Additional distressing details include the farm’s vicinity reportedly littered with animal remains and the farm owner, Domingo del Pozo Martínez, holding two animal welfare seals despite these conditions. This revelation not only questions the farm’s operations but also casts doubt on the certification processes. The gruesome reality, as portrayed in the investigation, starkly contrasts with the farm’s animal welfare certification, which has been suspended post-inspections. The alarming evidence and the owner’s denial of any wrongdoing further exacerbate concerns about transparency and ethical conduct in animal agriculture.

This situation necessitates urgent intervention. The alleged atrocities at this farm cannot be overlooked. If true, they demand strict legal repercussions. The emotional and physical suffering of these animals, if confirmed, calls for a thorough investigation and immediate legal action against all responsible parties. This petition aims to ensure that justice prevails and such horrifying incidents are never repeated.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Luis Planas,

Recent findings by the Animal Welfare Observatory at a pig farm in Burgos have surfaced, raising grave concerns about animal treatment in certified farms. Allegations include severely injured pigs and unsanitary conditions, suggesting a blatant disregard for animal welfare. This shocking revelation at a farm, previously certified for animal welfare, casts a shadow over the certification process and ethical standards in the industry.

The detailed accounts of the conditions at this farm, if proven true, are deeply troubling. Animals allegedly subjected to extreme neglect and cruelty in a certified facility is unacceptable. The juxtaposition of the farm’s alleged state and its certification raises critical questions about oversight and accountability in animal welfare certifications. The fact that such conditions could exist unnoticed for years under the guise of certification is alarming.

Given these circumstances, we urge you to take immediate action. A thorough investigation into this farm and a review of the certification process are necessary. If these allegations are confirmed, those responsible must face legal consequences. This incident should serve as a catalyst for stringent measures to safeguard animal welfare and ensure transparency in the agriculture sector.

Sincerely,

Your Name Here

  1. There is no end to the cruelty of humans. There are many wonderful people, caring people, compassionate people and loving people. This story is about
the inhumanity of humans. Pigs are raised for food but they deserve even more respect for being part of your country’s dinner plate. Wh can’t people ask how they would feel if they were an animal who was so abused. People go to church and yet do this to those who can not fight back. Throw these fools into a lion’s den and then they might know the horror they serve on other innocents. There is no hope for humanity if these people are not severely punished.

  2. Evil bastards need to be tortured & slaughtered! They are NOT human!
Poor Animals xxx Heartbreaking,, wish I could SAVE THEM ALL!!!

  3. Wendy Wright says:

Evil. Need to be severely punished.

  4. Sharon Rudyk says:

OBVIOUSLY WHAT WE CALL THE justice system [not] IS FAILING LIFE ON THIS PLANET. THESE HORRIBLE HUMANS SHOULD GET THE SAME TREATMENT RIGHT BAK BUT 100 FOLD!!!! IF “JUSTICE” CANNOT DO THEIR JOBS THEN AN EYE FOR AN EYE SOUNDS PRETTY GOOD!!!

  5. Sharon Rudyk says:

    agree!!

  6. OMG, the greedy, vile, uncompassionate humans of this world is disgusting and appalling. Those involved in these issues must be severely punished and that is not a slap on the wrist. Justice must be gotten for all those poor animals and that means long 2-3 years or more jail sentences, huge fines, banned from ever being able to be associated with any animal meaning no farms or anything dealing with animals.

WE THE PUBLIC ARE SICK OF THESE STORIES AND DEMAND AUTHORITIES DO THEIR JOBS TO MAKE SURE IT DOESNT HAPPEN AGAIN. WE ARE WATCHING AND DEMAND JUSTICE FOR THESE ANIMALS!!!!!!

  7. Cindy Miller says:

This is disgusting & no animal should suffer like this! Closes the place down & charged the owner & people that worked there! Some worker could have been a good person & reported this shit but no & the pigs had to suffer!! 💔

  8. Paula Long says:

The USDA sucks when it comes to animal welfare! May AA well so away with that department. Just a bunch of lazy ass employees collecting a paycheck that they do nothing for!

    • This is Spain. A country that has some hellish ideas about animals and their welfare.

      • Gilda Provenzano says:

Yes it is. But USDA is shit and will be getting worse. Know when my friend went to become a vegetarian? When the restaurant he went to had an abcess in piece of pork chef was cutting up. His friend is a chef and told him about it. GROSS.

  9. Urszula Lund says:

GO VEGAN and this hell will end! Even if you save some pigs, turkeys, calves, chickens and other animals, there are still BILLIONS of other farm-animals imprisoned and tortured behind the impenetrable walls of the GREEDY, CRUEL and CYNICAL slaughter-industry! Don’t contribute to their greed and filthy profits! Vegan is the only ethical lifestyle because it’s 100% CRUELTY-FREE, not based on animal exploitation.
A large assortment of vegan foods is available in all supermarkets! Bacon, pork, lamb, cheese and eggs are products resulting from a shocking animal torture. If you purchase these products, you are definitely NOT an animal-lover, but an animal-abuser and a hypocrite, because you regularly fund this torture with your food-purchases!
Rescuing ONE pig won’t change the world, but GOING VEGAN definitely will!

    • Gilda Provenzano says:

And people think being vegetarian or vegan will cost more! BS!! Costs less. And people think we only eat veggies beans and rice. Also bs. My friends LOVE my black bean burgers. I tell them to be honest about my recipes. Good or bad criticism.

    • Jaime Perez says:

I totally agree!! Go vegan, save the animals.

  10. Maria Lavorato says:

It sounds like whomever certified this farm was grossly negligent!

They should all be fired and this farm should be shut down immediately. All the animals should be dispersed to sanctuaries.
The owner’s denial of wrongdoing underlines the fact that his head is buried and this will not stop. There is no compassion and this person should not be entrusted with animals any longer. Shut him down and charge him according to the crimes. It is truly certain that many murders have happened on this farm!!!!

Yes go vegan or at least vegetarian would turn the tide!!!!!!

  11. chop their fingers off and throw them in jail for good

  12. What the hell is the point of issuing animal welfare certifications and seals if the there is no oversight and meaningful prosecution and punishment for violators? It’s a gimmick for the issuing institution to make money and deceive the public. Make an example of Domingo del Pozo Martínez and punish him and any other that participated in these despicable acts of cruelty and neglect.

  13. Wendy Morrison says:

This CRUEL & ABUSIVE FARMER DESERVE THE EXACT TORTURE AS THESE INNOCENT DEFENSELESS PIGS AND OTHER FARM ANIMALS SUFFERED BY HIS ABUSIVE NEGLIGENCE IMMEDIATELY!!!

  14. No animal should be starved to the point that they are desperate, they eat other animals as well as their own. These people need to be punished.

  15. Agree all comments these people should be tortured to death and left to rot in hell. No excuse should be made and more checks on people who have animals if do don’t want to care for them don’t have them. To much cruelty in this world and needs harsh punishment. Eye for a eye. To own a animal property needs to be checked and you need to be on a animal register they need to be desexed, microchiped and only registered breeders and they are limited how many they breed. No backyard breeders allowed. Also yearly checks.

  16. Kae Lynn Blecha says:

This is Spain, where they torture and kill bulls and their hunting dogs. I won’t hold my breath.

  17. Claudia Ferguson says:

WTH is wrong with the human race? We’re supposed to be the most intelligent but I beg to differ. Humans are too egocentric to see outside the box! We’re just getting more stupid by the generation.

  18. Julia Edinger says:

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH….. Sharon Rudyk
“OBVIOUSLY WHAT WE CALL THE justice system [not] IS FAILING LIFE ON THIS PLANET. THESE HORRIBLE HUMANS SHOULD GET THE SAME TREATMENT RIGHT BAK BUT 100 FOLD!!!! IF “JUSTICE” CANNOT DO THEIR JOBS THEN AN EYE FOR AN EYE SOUNDS PRETTY GOOD!!! “…….

  19. Uncommon Sensesc says:

Another reason to hate Spain! As if the sickening, evil bull killing wasn’t bad enough, now there’s this. Plus Spain has lots of animal cruelty that nothing is done about. I’d swear they were Asian if I didn’t know better. I’d like to beat these people with a Karma Bat!

  20. Pamela Plambeck says:

The horrors exposed at a this “farm of terror” in Quintanilla del Coco, Burgos are inexcusable. Is it true that the farm owner is also the mayor of the town?
Please close this operation until the truth is brought to light and if guilty, the perpetrators of this extreme animal cruelty are brought to justice.
