Target: Christine Conn, Director of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources
Goal: Protect the Appalachian Mountains.
Maryland’s stretch of the Appalachian Mountains, a treasure trove of biodiversity and a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, faces a precarious future. Rampant deforestation, unchecked mining activities, and encroaching urban development are eroding this natural sanctuary. This isn’t a mere environmental concern; it’s a full-blown crisis that screams for immediate redressal.
The mountains serve as a critical habitat for a multitude of endemic species and play a pivotal role in regional climate regulation. Yet, the lack of stringent conservation measures and regulatory oversight is accelerating its degradation.
Economically, the implications are far-reaching. The mountains are a magnet for tourism, thereby fueling local economies. The degradation of this natural asset could spell disaster for communities dependent on eco-tourism.
Affix your signature to this petition to compel the Maryland Department of Natural Resources to enact immediate, comprehensive measures aimed at conserving the Appalachian Mountains in Maryland. Instituting stringent land-use regulations, promoting sustainable forestry, and ramping up monitoring are indispensable steps for safeguarding this ecological gem.
PETITION LETTER:
Dear Director Conn,
The urgency of preserving Maryland’s Appalachian Mountains cannot be overstated. This natural wonder, a sanctuary for diverse flora and fauna, is under siege. The evidence is glaring: accelerated erosion, habitat fragmentation, and compromised ecological balance.
Immediate action is non-negotiable. We implore you to roll out a comprehensive conservation strategy that addresses the multifaceted challenges facing the mountains. This plan must include rigorous land-use regulations, sustainable forestry guidelines, and proactive monitoring protocols.
Failure to act will only deepen the crisis, affecting not just the environment, but also the economic vitality of the communities. The Appalachian Mountains are not merely a geological feature; they are an irreplaceable part of Maryland’s natural heritage.
We urge you to act with the urgency this crisis warrants. Implement measures that will not only conserve the Appalachian Mountains, but also ensure their long-term sustainability within Maryland’s borders.
Sincerely,

Corporations and industry have brutalized this area for over a century. When we did not know better it was at least understandable even though selfish. But now? It need to be illegal. The harm does, knowingly, by corporations, Coal, and industry is beyond repair. The problem? They are still at it! Where are our laws to protect ourselves, our mountains, and save sustainable life including animals and wildlife. Dark money pushes politicians to enhance their supporters and tell the voters to take as hike. If found guilty there is only a long prison sentence for all involved. The harsher the better! One can not take from Nature without replenishing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
