Target: Laxman Narasimhan, CEO of Starbucks
Goal: Stop the use of disposable cups in Starbucks and opt for environmentally-friendly options.
Starbucks is known for their efforts in environmental sustainability, but with nearly 8 million drinks being sold a day, the iconic plastic Starbucks cup contributes to pollution. As of recently, Starbucks have begun to opt for customers bringing in their own reusable cups. If they do this, they get a dollar off their drink order. Since 2008, Starbucks has expressed their goal in switching their disposable cups with reusable ones. This goal has not yet been completed, and with plastic pollution getting increasingly worse, this small shift must be prioritized. Starbucks’s efforts in prioritizing the environment are appreciated, especially when considering their more recent use of biodegradable straws, but more must be done to help Earth.
Sign this petition to demand Starbucks fully goes the reusable route when selling goods. Starbucks’s encouragement of environmental sustainability is valued, but to fully align with Earth’s well-being, products must be fully reusable and/or biodegradable.
PETITION LETTER:
Dear CEO Narasimhan,
Starbucks has done well at promoting environmental welfare, but more must be done. As the use of plastic straws has been withdrawn and replaced, it’s time for the use of plastic cups to be revoked. Plastic pollution is getting progressively worse, and with the millions of plastic Starbucks utilizes each day, it’s unethical for the use of disposal cups to persist.
To benefit the environment, reusable cups must be required in all Starbucks’s around the world. The encouragement of reusable products is a start, but it does not compare to the positive environmental impacts of stopping the use of plastic cups. Stop the use of plastic cups now.
Sincerely,
[Your Name Here]
