Say No to Expansion of Oil Shipping Terminals to Protect Marine Ecosystems

Target: Washington Governor Jay Inslee

Goal: Halt the expansion of oil shipping terminals that pose a grave threat to Washington’s precious marine ecosystems.

Washington’s pristine marine ecosystems are under imminent threat due to the proposed expansion of oil shipping terminals. These terminals, if allowed to expand, will significantly increase the risk of oil spills, devastating the delicate balance of marine life that sustains coastal communities.

The current infrastructure is already handling substantial amounts of oil transportation, and an expansion would only exacerbate the potential for disaster. An oil spill would inflict irreversible damage upon the vibrant coastal habitats, impacting marine species, local economies, and the well-being of future generations.

In the face of the global climate crisis, further compromise cannot be afforded for the health of the oceans and coastlines. The consequences of an oil spill would be catastrophic, with long-lasting ramifications for both the environment and the livelihoods of those who depend on it.

Sign the petition below to demand that Governor Jay Inslee and the Washington State Legislature take a firm stance against the expansion of oil shipping terminals, prioritizing the protection of the marine ecosystems and the communities they support.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Governor Inslee,

The very essence of Washington’s identity is rooted in the natural beauty of its landscapes, particularly the breathtaking marine ecosystems that grace our shores. As responsible stewards of this land and sea, we urge you to vehemently oppose the expansion of oil shipping terminals.

The proposed expansion not only places our marine ecosystems in immediate danger of catastrophic oil spills, but also undermines the efforts we have made to combat climate change and transition to a sustainable future. The potential consequences of such a spill are far-reaching and irreversible, robbing us of our marine biodiversity, clean water, and the thriving communities that depend on these resources.

We implore you to stand firm against short-term gains that threaten the very core of Washington’s identity and livelihoods. We ask you to prioritize the health of our oceans, the prosperity of our coastal communities, and the well-being of future generations over the profits of a few.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
