Stop Imprisoning Bears to Extract Their Bile

Target: Mr. Tran Luu Quang, Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam

Goal: Advocate for the ban of bear bile in traditional medicine to eliminate unnecessary suffering of bears in Vietnam.

Bear bile has been used for centuries in traditional medicine to treat a variety of ailments in humans. However, this practice causes immense suffering to bears, who are kept in small cages and subjected to cruel extraction methods. These bears often suffer from a range of physical and psychological problems.

The use of bear bile in traditional medicine is cruel and unnecessary. There are plenty of alternative medicines that do not involve the exploitation of animals. Furthermore, the conditions under which bears are kept for bile extraction are not only cruel but also a potential public health risk. The extraction process itself can cause infections and diseases that can be transmitted to humans. The bile is harvested through invasive methods such as catheters or surgically implanted tubes, leading to chronic pain, infection, and premature death. Bears are forced to endure these cruel conditions for their entire lives, with no relief in sight.

A ban on this harmful practice is essential in eliminating the needless suffering of bears and ensuring the protection of their welfare. Not only will this alleviate the agony inflicted upon these magnificent creatures, but it will also positively impact public health and safety by decreasing the risk of disease transmission.

Through the ban of bear bile, we can take a significant step towards animal welfare and public health in Vietnam. Sign below and demand leaders take urgent action to protect both animals and humans.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang,

I am writing to urge you to advocate for the ban of bear bile in traditional medicine to eliminate the unnecessary suffering of bears in Vietnam. The use of bear bile in traditional medicine causes immense suffering to bears and poses a potential public health risk. The conditions under which bears are kept for bile extraction are often inhumane, leading to a range of physical and psychological problems. The extraction process itself can cause infections and diseases that can be transmitted to humans.

We must take action to ban the use of bear bile in traditional medicine and encourage the use of alternative medicines that do not involve the exploitation of animals. This will help to eliminate the unnecessary suffering of bears and protect their welfare. It will also help to ensure public health and safety by reducing the risk of transmission of diseases.

We urge you to take immediate action and support the ban of bear bile in traditional medicine to protect animal welfare and public health in Vietnam.

Sincerely,

  1. What will disgusting humans come up with next? Stop this shit now!

  2. Absolutely disgusting and criminal!

Stop legitimizing this practice by calling it “traditional” medicine as though it is “medicine “ at all. WHOSE “trading” for that matter. Perhaps “some folk medical beliefs “ might be better, and there are better than that.

Just stop legitimizing grotesque and ruinous practices by acting as though they serve Medicine

  3. We talk about cruelty free skin care and makeup all the time. But does anyone ever think about the cruelty that goes into making Chinese medicine? Think about that when you go to Accupuncture. They do some extreme things to squeeze a drop of liquid from a poor live animal for their Chinese herb concoctions.

  4. Susan Rodriguez says:

Another extreme cruelty carried out for so called tradition. This causes abject misery to these poor bears and should be banned immediately. Can we even imagine the suffering of not only being kept in a small cage but then having the procedure done.

  5. I remember watching a documentary style reporting story on CNN many many years ago with Anderson Cooper about this. It was so long ago. I can’t believe it’s still so prevalent. I’ve been fighting against it ever since. Create & distribute petitions, write to leaders in Vietnam, end this horrifying, torturous practice.

  6. Does Vietnam want to be known as a country that abuse its animals? I hope not Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang. Stop exploiting these majestic animals and start treating them with respect! Set them free from their miseries before bad karma find its way to your homes, whoever are involved!

  7. Any time I see the words ‘ traditional’ and ‘animal’ in the same sentence I know it’s going to be about abusing animals. These countries will never be considered civilized while this is condoned by governments who turn a blind eye to it. Please be the person who is remembered for ending it.

OMG I HAD NO IDEA. THIS IS UTTERLY SICK! You have no right to treat God’s innocent creatures so horrifically. THIS SHOULD BE ILLEGAL and punishable to the maximum! YOU ARE ON THE HORRIFIC SIDE OF HISTORY!!! Find your heart and use it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

USE HOLISTIC VEGAN INGREDIENTS FOR MEDICINE.

  9. Maria Lavorato says:

You have to be extremely void of everything to watch an innocent animal suffer like that. You should all be caged!

  10. ENDT THE HORRIBLE ABUSE NOW

  11. Wendy+Morrison says:

STOP ALL THIS ANIMAL CRUELTY AND ABUSE TOWARDS ALL BEARS IMMEDIATELY!!!!! STOP EXTRACTING ALL BEARS’ BILE!! THESE STUPID, CRUEL, AND ABUSIVE IDIOTS NEED TO HAVE THEIR BILE EXTRACTED TO RECEIVE THE EXACT TORTURE THESE BEARS HAVE SUFFERED FOR YEARS!!! STOP ALL ANIMSL CRUELTY AND ABUSE TOWARDS BEARS AND ALL OTHER SNIMALS IMMEDIATELY!!!!!°

People that keep God’s creatures in prison for their own selfish needs are nothing but children of the devil God is not their father and they’re an abomination to their holy Father and will never make it to heaven… God doesn’t allow evil people in heaven

It is hard to believe that this practice still exists. But apparently it still does. I support the ban of bear bile and hopefully the Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang does as well.

  14. ALEJANDRA+PARAPAR says:

This is an imperiously cruel practice with no medicinal value. The government must intercede and ban this horrific practice; strict penalties must be implemented.

  15. Urszula Lund says:

This is an unspeakable suffering imposed in the name of pseudo-science and pseudo-medicine.
This is an EXTREME ENVIRONMENTAL CRIME.
This is CRIMINALITY committed by primitive-minded and greedy humans.
    VIETNAM. This must END.
VIETNAM! Do you have any conscience left? SHAME!

  16. Agree all comments. Catch these bastards and stick in them leave them to pain deaths. Stop now who ever allows this bullshit stick it them too.

  17. It’s disgusting and evil that Vietnam culture does this!

  18. Is this a culture issue, a money issue or a laziness issue? This practice has been going on for many many years. With safe alternatives available, why don’t they use them?? Too expensive maybe? Easier to catch, feed and kill a bear than buy the meds??? (This ties in with Big Pharma caring about profit over life) I’ve signed loads of petitions to stop bile harvesting, I can’t believe it’s still happening. 🙁

  19. Pamela Plambeck says:

This practice extracts a tremendous toll on the lives and souls of animals. Please put an immediate stop to this inhumane practice.
