A bloodied dog named Atlas was found wandering the streets. His face was gashed, bruised, and bleeding. His eyes were nearly swollen shut.
When rescuers arrived, Atlas was barely able to see and was experiencing blood loss and other internal injuries. Atlas was found wandering aimlessly in a parking lot in Pompano Beach.
Rescuers, from both South Florida Cats and Kittens and I Heart, assumed custody of Atlas and rushed him to a veterinary hospital where he received treatment for his extensive injuries.
According to representatives from I Heart, Atlas’ injuries are consistent with being used as a “bait dog” in a dog fighting ring. He does not appear to have been hit by a car.

I’m so sorry to hear about the abuse poor, innocent Atlas was subjected to. I don’t understand how people get pleasure out of dog fighting. I hope the slimy snakes who used Atlas as a bait dog, are caught and severely punished. Get well soon Atlas and I hope you get justice.
Dog fighting is against the law. Period. How this continues to rear such an ugly head is simply not understandable. Florida is not the best stay for animals and after reading this I understand why. The people running the dog fighting ring must know the right people to look the other way. To allow such an abused animal to walk the streets is a crime in and of itself. Our investigations of such crimes are not all in vain yet it appears no one of authority is really interested in stopping such crimes as they continue. Like Please, I hope Atlas finds a forever family for no dog deserves it more.
At least the poor dog was able to get away somehow whether on his own or abandoned by these POS. Either way…he now has a chance to LIVE. So thank god for that. And yes, these SOBs need to be found shut down and tried!

Just no words to express my disgust at the fact that dog fighting is so prevalent in a so called civilized country and it always seems to go unpunished. Americans need to get out of their bubble and see the rest of the world and find out what it thinks of you. It is unsolved brutality like this that colours our perception of you. It does seem in any country no one gets what they deserve for doing this.
This makes me sick and my heart breaks for this poor dog and all the others who are being abused and used for dog fighting. They must be found and Justice for these helpless animals are a must. Rid the world of these evil humans, so no other animals become victims to the monsters they are. These animals feel pain and are living beings. Use every resource to find who did this and don’t just give them a slap on the wrist. Felony charges to the max and more.

The scum of the earth that subject a living being to such torture can not be loose to roam this planet! They need to be hunted down and punished to the full. Someone knows something!!!! Please do not let up on this investigation and give Atlas and all the other innocent animals their justice. Animals can’t call the police for help, so please do whatever it takes to bring this ring down and follow with lengthy jail time, during which I hope they all end up tortured the same way Atlas did.
