Man Accused of Beating 4-Month-Old Puppy Must be Punished

Target: Kevin Flanagan, Belmont County Prosecutor
Goal: Seek maximum penalty for man accused of severely beating 4-month-old puppy.

A puppy has been apparently severely beaten by his owner. The puppy, a 4-month-old Siberian Husky had such severe injuries that authorities finally stepped in and removed the dog from his owner’s possession.

The puppy’s owner, a resident of Belmont County in Ohio, has been charged with two counts of animal abuse. When rescuers X-rayed the puppy, they reportedly also found evidence of numerous past broken bones, suggesting that the recent alleged attack was not an isolated incident.

Julie Larish, humane agent with humane organization Belmont County Hoof & Paw, argued in favor of a felony charge in this case. She said that there appears to be evidence the puppy was abused for a prolonged period of time.

“I think the medical evidence stands for itself,” Larish said. “I think the charges fit the crime.”

The owner is currently in jail on an unrelated driving under the influence charge.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Prosecutor Flanagan,

All animal abuse is terrible, but abuse directed at a young puppy is particularly heinous. This is apparently what has occurred in your jurisdiction.

Please seek the maximum penalty in this case and obtain justice for the puppy dog.

Sincerely,

  1. If this is poor dog has been abused for a long period of time (and is only a puppy still!) then felony animal abuse is more than warranted, it is necessary to make sure these ‘people’ understand that is not acceptable and will not be tolerated. They need to be prosecuted and punished to the full extent allowable by law. They should receive a lifetime ban from owning animals. Do your job, let people know this is a felony and will be punished, no slaps on the wrist for abusers.

Your thoughts were expressed so eloquently, and I agree with you completely. I tried to report some neighbors and the police sent someone to the inside of their house and they apparently had two huskies inside who looked okay. But, I have seen wounded dogs and perhaps cats on their property next to the back wall of our yards that we share. I have taken pictures and called the police but they didn’t confer with me and did not go in their backyard, I will only go to the police with pictures and in person, because the messenger to the police officers or animal control didn’t go beyond the house nor go in the backyard where I saw suffering and dead animals. My yard in below theirs and when I stepped on a stepladder to take the pictures; my phone was since stolen and I no longer have the proof to show the police. The people (younger, who were given the house by the woman’s aunt) came to my house and warned me not to throw food over to their dog when it goes in backyard. I did do that because the animal was injured on on dirt ground. Anyway, I live alone and I am 76 now, so not too able to physically do anything much to help. I will report in person and check what the officer writes so that they limit thier view of where the animals can be if I report it again. I an handicapped at this time so I have to be careful. I have a schitzu dog and three cats that I have had for 12 years. I love animals and it really bothers me that I am in this alone.

  2. I agree with Joanne 100%. Very well said Joanne and thank you for your compassion. This person being in jail presently for driving under the influence shows a disrespect for all living beings including humans. I agree with you and, Julie Larish, this needs to be a felony and this person should never be allowed near animals again for life. It appears this person doesn’t care about others as driving under the influence is a crime against society. How this puppy survived is a miracle but how will this puppy ever trust another human again? This type of person is a bully to all and friend to none. I hope the punishment fits the crime.

This vile, mentally deranged severe animal abusing scumbag definitely requires instigation of the death penalty. A slow and agonizing extermination is required for this cretin!

  5. Mary Young says:

There not gonna do anything to this bastard cause the police already knew about a long time ago and is just taking the puppy bullshit

  6. Alice K. Knight says:

This individual has been jailed due to driving under the influence, but has not been charged for his on-going animal abuse. This is unacceptable. The driving under the influence is deadly enough, but to be abusing an animal on an on-going time is okay?
