Demand Mental Treatment for Kids Who Abuse Animals

Target: Thomas J. Vilsack, United States Secretary of Agriculture

Goal: Mandate psychological treatment for kids who commit acts of animal cruelty to protect other animals and people.

It was over a year ago that Buddy the dog was found near death, with an extension cord tied around his neck, covered in burn marks from having been set on fire. The alleged perpetrator of this heinous crime: a 12-year-old Mississippi child. While this would typically be considered a felony punishable by up to three years in prison, children under 12 cannot be charged with a crime or evaluated according to Mississippi state law.

In the wake of much public outrage, officials created Buddy’s law which went into effect on July 1st of 2022. According to Buddy’s law, any child convicted of torturing animals is required to receive psychiatric evaluation and treatment. Not only will this law protect thousands of animals from abuse, it will also possibly save the lives of many people, as there is a relatively well established link between animal abuse and later acts of violence towards humans.

Sign this petition to demand Buddy’s law be passed on a federal level and hold abusers in all states across the U.S. accountable for their crimes.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Secretary Vilsack,

Buddy’s law was recently passed in Mississippi after Buddy, a family dog, was found with an extension cord tied tightly around his neck and covered in burn marks. This terrible crime was allegedly committed by a child who, under the age of 12, couldn’t be charged with a crime or evaluated by the state.

Buddy’s law changes this. According to the law, any child convicted of torturing animals is required to receive psychiatric evaluation and treatment. Not only will this get children the help they need, it will also likely save animals and even other people. The correlation between early childhood acts of animal abuse and later acts of violence towards humans is relatively well-established, and perpetrators of crimes towards animals are typically capable of much more.

We are asking you, Mr. Vilsack, to encourage Buddy’s law to be passed on a federal level as an amendment to the Animal Welfare Act.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

  1. Agree all comments stop this now and get rid of the fuckers who treat animals like this. The laws need to change, and people need to be tortured the same way see how they feel. This world is fucken useless when comes to animals. EYE FOR An EYE. Why does it take so long to deal with this bullshit.

    • Deborah Jones says:

YES!!! These children ARE serial killers, and CANNOT be helped. Whomever thinks therapy will help MONSTERS is totally delusional. I know exactly what needs to be done, and so do you. You are right!!!

    • AGREE!!!!

    • Forget the mental treatment! They’re just going to continue abusing anyway! Once it starts it doesn’t stop! Animal abuse is out of control and it’s going to continue until these laws become strict and these people I don’t care if they’re kids or who the hell they are, are held 1000% accountable! Get with it people!

      • It’s always crazed liberals who think they can magically ‘change’ evil people into saints. It never has happened and it never will happen. The very title of this petition shows that the idiot who made it actually believes they can turn a monstrous 12 year old into a saint through ‘therapy’ (which is all a load of rubbish.)
They deserve the death penalty – put them in prison until they are 18, and then burn them to death. See how they like it. This is the ONLY way to actually stop these monsters from committing atrocities like this.
Also, why is the ‘child’s’ identity being kept a secret? Don’t the rest of the public deserve to know who this monster is, and whether they are going to the same school as OUR children? And whether they live next door to US? To hell with these brainwashed liberal idiots who are the CAUSE of all this animal suffering.

      • Susan Rodriguez says:

I couldn’t agree more. We need much stricter laws to cover animal cruelty and stiffer penalties.

  2. Dawn Richardson says:

Often children who commit these horrible acts are themselves being abused by parents or peers, or are budding psychopaths. In any case, a deep-dive into the lives of these kids must be undertaken to find out why. If these cases aren’t taken seriously by law officials, they will escalate.

    • I agree with the deep dive but in the mean time something must be done to prevent any incident to be repeated…..AND perhaps the child should be in a safe home where they would learn an entire different way of life….BUT THE PARENTS MUST ALSO BE DEALT WITH>>>>>

  3. I’m telling you this kid is the next Jeffrey Dahmer he’s starting out the exact same way what an evil cruel act to commit and this kid needs to go to juvenile hall and sit there till he’s 18 and then they should put him in jail and let him sit there for another couple years and then they should never ever let him around animals again and make him a pedophile against animals so he can never never be around them I would set him on fire myself if I could piece of shit.

  4. Michelle Taylor says:

All animal abusers require instigation of the death penalty. These vile animal abusing brats require the same penalty as adults.

  5. Maria Nowicki says:

Just about all serial killers started out by abusing and torturing animals. This kid will grow up to be a psychopath if not given help. Where the hell were the parents when he was torturing the dog? They need psychiatric help also.

    • Gilda Provenzano says:

Parents do not give a shit. Adter all it is just an animal they say. Like a mother who said it is just a cat after her son kicked cat and was arrested.

      • Deborah Jones says:

Horrific DEATH to animal abusers. I recently found out that killer Charles Manson, murdered not only people, but animals too. In the past, I thought Manson was the one exception, but anyone can print any LIES they want, in books, and elsewhere.

    • The kis is already a psychopath, and they can’t be helped/fixed. The best thing for society is to house these critters in a juve jail, away from people and animals, period.

  6. Gilda Provenzano says:

That AND DO NOT BRING ANY ANIMAL INTO HOME.

  7. Not a kid, a Psychopath!! Where were the parents?? Enforcing animal abuse will not be tolerated??
We as Society need to talk to these children and report them, even if they are not ours and protect our own pets and defenceless Buddy’s!

  8. Debra Goldstein-Lustig says:

CHILDREN WHO COMMIT THESE VILE ACTS OF ANIMAL ABUSE AND CRUELTY ARE OFTEN PRODUCTS OF ABUSE IN THEIR OWN HOME LIFE. TIME TO HOLD THESE LOSERS ACCOUNTABLE IN EVERY WHICH WAY. I AGREE THAT THEY NEED MENTAL HEALTH TREATMENT BUT OUR GOVT MUST STEP IN AND PROSECUTE THESE SCUMBAGS. NO INNOCENT ANIMAL DESERVES SUCH TREATMENT NO MATTER WHAT. TO THOSE WHO COMMIT SUCH ACTS OF ABUSE SHOULD RECEIVE THE SAME IN KIND. I LIKE WHAT ONE OF THE OTHER PEOPLE COMMENTED “AN EYE FOR AN EYE”

  9. Nelleke Talen says:

Juist als je door je ouders niet goed behandeld word.
Weet je dat dit niet okee is.
Waarom zou je een dier dat aan doen?
    Je bent een geweldadig iemand.
    En Karma zal je vinden.
Ook al ben je pas 12 jaar.

  10. This little monster will grow up to be a serial killer. The parents are as much to blame for allowing something as heinous as their child abusing an innocent animal. Were they blind to what was going on, or just plain stupid??

  11. Patricia Wicker says:

OMG!~!!~ POOR INNOCENT DOG! This kid is the next serial Killer!~!~! NEEDS TO BE PUT IN MENTAL INSTITUTION FOREVER! HE IS A PSYCHOPATH!!~!~~!~!

  12. If we don’t help young children who have a propensity for showing cruelty and torture toward animals it will only continue and get worse as they get older and progress to humans. We are becoming a world of evil. We need to make harsher laws especially when it involves the voiceless innocent animals.

  13. Evaluate them with an eye for an eye philosophy. Screw being protected by age! Evil cannot be rehabilitated.

  14. The ‘child’ who did this should be imprisoned for life, as simple as that. It’s cretinous, virtue-signalling idiots who like to pretend that children are incapable of committing atrocities, who are responsible for all the suffering in the world. How do you think that adult animal abusers, and human abusers, become that way? They are abused as children by their parents, or other adults, that’s why they want to torture and kill others. But unfortunately, you can’t turn evil people into nice people. The ONLY solution is life imprisonment, or the death penalty, otherwise these monsters just keep in reproducing more and more children who they then abuse, and turn into monsters like themselves.

  15. Triad of psychopathy, bed wetting, fire starting and animal cruelty. Kid’s got all three tendencies, lock him/her up to protect everyone else. Some killers are born that way, some are made. Catching both types before they offend is the key to keeping society safe.

  16. Dolores Proubasta says:

A propensity to cruelty is a mental defect that so far has no “cure.” It manifests itself early, when parents and others dismiss it as a phase or a fluke, but it is not. Even with proper treatment, such children are a menace and must be monitored for the rest of their lives. There should dedicated police registries in every city, state, and at federal level for such cases: a red flag that identifies a young psychopath as likely to continue committing crimes and not just on other animals.

  17. Uncommonsensesc says:

Mental health treatment? That’s it? That is going to help nothing or no one that gets in the way of these young evil beings. The poor innocent animals need true justice and I don’t mean just talking to the head doctors. They have got to be locked up – once the animal torture and killing happens, it will only escalate.

  18. What happened to Buddy??? I so hope he found a loving home

  19. Shirley Lemieux says:

I support this Petition. It was tragic for this innocent dog to be lit on fire by a minor. It was even appalling that children under 12 cannot be charged with a crime or evaluated according to Mississippi state law. Times have changed for the worst over the years where children are being raised improperly and committing acts of crimes without consequence. Some parents these days even have their children commit crimes for them so that the parents can get away with it. There should be a Federal Law requiring minors to be accountable for vicious and violent crimes.

  20. Andrea+Chisari says:

Give ’em all the mental treatment you want – WHILE THEY SERVE LIFE IN PRISON!

    NO EXCEPTIONS!
