Success: Governor of Puerto Rico Announces Resignation

Target: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, U.S. Congresswoman

Goal: Support political movement to remove the corrupt Governor of Puerto Rico.

Our ongoing battle to remove corrupt officials everywhere led to a major victory, as disgraced Governor of Puerto Rico Ricardo Rosselló announced he would be resigning from office. This is after pressure brought on by activists like you, support from lawmakers like Rep. Ocasio-Cortez, and strong resistance within Puerto Rico itself. Thanks to these combined efforts, he will be leaving office and Puerto Rico has a chance to move forward.

Every time a government official is removed from office after they show their true colors, it is a victory for truth and justice. This wouldn’t happen without activists like you pushing back against the cruelty, as you did with our petition by Tiffany White. The Governor was caught being misogynistic, racist, and homophobic. Now, he is resigning in disgrace. Thanks to the leadership of people like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and more importantly, your refusal to accept this kind of horrible behavior, we won a major victory and got a cruel man out of office. Thank Rep. Ocasio-Cortez for her role, and then, it’s on to the next bigoted politician that needs to go.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Rep. Ocasio-Cortez,

Thanks to the combination of your leadership, the pressure of activists, and the resistance of Puerto Ricans themselves, we have won a great victory against bigotry. Getting Governor Rosselló to resign likely couldn’t have happened without the strength of your voice in Congress. Your leadership is an amazing boon to all of us who care about human rights in this country. We are grateful for your strength and refusal to back down, even when you yourself are a victim of horrible racial bigotry.

In order to take our country back from far-right bigotry, we need the leadership of people like yourself. Thank you for being our loudest voice and our strongest leader, and helping us make a real change that will help the people of Puerto Rico get their part of our country back.

Sincerely,

It was time for him to go. Hatred, intolerance and bigotry everywhere needs to be stamped out entirely. We don’t need politicians that keep it alive.
