Target: North Korea Foreign Minister Ri Su Yong
Goal: Applaud North Korea’s pledge to fight deforestation in an effort to reduce climate change.
North Korea has declared “war on deforestation,” pledging to actively engage in global environmental efforts, North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Su Yong announced. This is thanks in part to petitions like ForceChange’s Save Our Planet.
The foreign minister said that North Korean leaders are putting forward a major project “to turn all the mountains of the country into mountains of gold, thickly wooded with trees” in order to fight deforestation.
The minister said North Korea is planning a large-scale tree-planting initiative over the next 10 years in order to battle climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. He said the country aims to massively reduce its greenhouse gas emissions overall.
It is up to all countries to engage in environmental efforts in order to save our planet, and it’s great that North Korea is recognizing this. Applaud North Korea’s efforts to fight deforestation and climate change.
