Target: Heather L. Adams, District Attorney of Lancaster County, PA
Goal: Ensure appropriate punishment for dogs who allegedly were kept in appalling conditions and forced to fight.
The horrifying case of alleged animal abuse involving Osvaldo Coello-Mendoza in Lancaster County has shocked the community. Investigators say they uncovered ten dogs in appalling conditions, including one that died from severe trauma sustained during fighting. With reports indicating that multiple dogs had been engaged in fights at Coello-Mendoza’s residence, the report of a lifeless dog and others suffering from severe injuries and distress is truly disturbing. The conditions in which these dogs were allegedly found—including being left without water or shelter in a yard covered with urine and feces—are horrific.
Many of the recovered dogs reportedly bore bite marks and injuries consistent with fighting, while one required an amputation due to its wounds. In addition to the physical injuries, the dogs also apparently suffered from parasites and other related ailments. Vivid reports described one dog lying on a vomit-covered floor with matted fur, indicative of neglect and lack of care. These allegations highlight a serious issue of cruelty that demands immediate attention and action from local authorities.
The need for corrective action is urgent. Allowing individuals who engage in such heinous acts to remain free without facing strict consequences sends a dangerous message about the protection of vulnerable animals. It is vital that the community comes together to demand justice for these animals and ensure that those accused of such cruelty are held accountable.
PETITION LETTER:
Dear DA Adams,
The recent case involving Osvaldo Coello-Mendoza, who has been charged with multiple counts related to the alleged cruelty and neglect of dogs, necessitates immediate action. Reports indicate that ten dogs were recovered from his residence in distressing conditions, with some suffering from severe injuries, and tragically, one dog was found dead as a result of trauma from fighting. The reports of dogs living in a urine and feces-covered yard, abandoned without water or shelter, seem to indicate a clear violation of animal welfare standards that should not be overlooked.
Several dogs were reportedly discovered with injuries typical of fighting, with one dog’s condition so dire it required an amputation. Additionally, the alleged lack of care—highlighted by the presence of a dog lying on a vomit-covered floor—further compels us to demand justice on behalf of these suffering animals.
It is imperative that those alleged to have caused such harm face appropriate legal consequences. Therefore, we urge you to pursue the maximum penalties against Osvaldo Coello-Mendoza for his alleged actions and ensure that justice is served for the dogs who suffered under his care.
Sincerely,
