Demand Justice for Two Horses Allegedly Dead on Property of Man Facing 84 Cruelty Charges

Target:  Jessica J. Waggoner, District Attorney for the 7th Judicial Circuit, Colorado

Goal: Ensure that appropriate punishment is enacted for the alleged deaths of two horses and neglect of numerous others.

A shocking case in Montrose, Colorado, has apparently revealed a disturbing reality for the horses and other animals under the care of one individual. A 61-year-old man named Scott Flores is facing 84 charges related to animal cruelty following the alleged deaths of at least two horses on his property. Initial reports from the Montrose County Sheriff’s Office indicate that concerns were raised after the discovery of a dead horse on May 31, prompting an investigation that uncovered not only the horrific conditions faced by the animals but also the discovery of a second dead horse on June 12.

Upon further inspection, numerous animals were reportedly found suffering from neglect, leading to an administrative search warrant being executed on July 3. Investigators, along with veterinarians, reportedly discovered a total of 79 horses, four dogs, and one goat on the property, all in dire need of immediate care. The seeming inhumane treatment and living conditions of these animals are unacceptable, highlighting a desperate need for accountability and justice in the face of such egregious neglect.

This petition implores the District Attorney to ensure that Scott Flores faces the full extent of the law for the alleged mistreatment of these animals. Appropriate punishment for the 84 counts of animal cruelty should be pursued, as it sends a powerful message that such behavior is intolerable in our society. The welfare of these innocent creatures depends on the resolution of this case and the resulting actions taken against the accused.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear District Attorney Waggoner,

The case involving alleged animal cruelty by Scott Flores in Montrose County has brought to light a harrowing situation that requires urgent attention. Flores faces 84 misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty following the alleged deaths of two horses and discovery of numerous other animals living in neglectful and inhumane conditions. This heartbreaking situation has shocked the community and highlights a critical need for justice on behalf of the affected animals.

Evidence collected by authorities suggests that two horses died under Flores’s care, with additional reports leading to an investigation that uncovered 79 horses, four dogs, and one goat living in distressful conditions. It is imperative that the severity of these alleged actions is addressed in court with the seriousness they warrant. The potential consequences indicated in the charges, including up to 365 days in jail for each count alongside fines, must be a priority to ensure adequate punishment and deter future occurrences of such cruelty.

We urge you to take a firm stance on this matter and ensure that Scott Flores is held accountable for the alleged mistreatment and neglect of these animals. The welfare of these innocent beings depends on swift and decisive action to prevent further cruelty.

Sincerely,
