Demand Justice for Animals Allegedly Tortured and Killed While Suspect Laughed

Target: Mudassar Riaz Malik,Director General, Punjab Wildlife and Parks Department

Goal: Punish suspect accused of torturing animals in graphic videos.

Reports have emerged of an incident in Lahore, Pakistan that has shocked animal lovers and advocates around the world. A suspect, reportedly tauntingly laughing while torturing and killing innocent animals, including bunnies and cats, has sparked outrage. Visuals shared by JFK Animal Rescue and Shelter seemingly highlight a scene of horror, with numerous animals found dead and others in captivity, revealing the grim nature of the activities occurring at this location. The social media posts of the suspect apparently showcased graphic imagery of this cruelty, drawing public attention to the abhorrent treatment of these defenseless creatures.

The arrest of the suspect by the Punjab Police has been met with some relief, but it is apparent that current laws are inadequate to address such heinous acts. The Assistant Superintendent of Police has stated that the suspect has been placed in a mental healthcare facility but has previously evaded rehabilitation. Despite a case being registered against her, the existing animal welfare laws in Pakistan, many of which are archaic and limit punishment for animal cruelty, fail to provide sufficient deterrent against such atrocities. With Pakistan’s previous attempts to amend animal welfare laws falling short, it is crucial to demand stronger enforcement and penalties to protect animals from abuse and neglect.

This urgent call for action aims not only to ensure that this suspect faces appropriate punishment but also to advocate for the implementation of comprehensive animal welfare laws across Punjab. No more innocent lives should be subjected to the cruelty that has been reported. Stronger laws are necessary to provide a safeguard for animals and prevent further incidents of this nature, ensuring that animals are treated with the respect and care they deserve.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Director General,

I am writing to express deep concern regarding the horrific case of animal cruelty that was recently reported in Lahore. A suspect was allegedly found torturing and killing small animals, including bunnies and cats, in what police described as a scene of extreme horror. Eyewitness accounts suggested that she was laughing at the shocking events as they unfolded. The animals were reportedly found dead, while others were suffering in captivity at the site, raising alarm about the grim realities of animal treatment in our society.

The Assistant Superintendent of Police has confirmed that a case has been filed under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and relevant wildlife protection laws. Unfortunately, current legislation is woefully inadequate to address such extreme cases of cruelty. Implementing stronger penalties and modernizing animal welfare laws are imperative to deter individuals from committing similar acts in the future. Without significant reform, many more innocent animals may suffer in silence, as this infamous case highlights the lack of protective measures in place.

It is crucial that the Punjab Wildlife and Parks Department take immediate action to enforce stricter penalties and enhance animal welfare regulations to prevent such horrific incidents from occurring again. The public demands that serious and capable measures be implemented to protect animals across Pakistan. The time for change is now.

Sincerely,
