Demand Justice for Over 40 Animals Reportedly Found in Filth and Surrounded by Deceased Companions

Target: Assistant State Attorneys Kevin Davis and Blake Shore, Citrus County, FL

Goal: Hold accountable those accused of keeping 40 animals starving and in filth.

The situation at Hess Haven in Floral City, Florida, is a harrowing example of alleged animal cruelty and negligence that demands immediate action. Authorities reportedly discovered more than 40 animals in appalling conditions, with dead cats disposed of in trash bags, a deceased dog locked away in a transport locker, and birds found lifeless inside a chicken coop. This led to a rescue operation by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, which described the scene as one of the most heartbreaking investigations they have ever encountered, with living animals surrounded by their deceased companions.

Further investigation revealed the apparent appalling state of the surviving animals. One dog and nine cats were reportedly found stranded among overflowing litter boxes filled with waste, with 12 additional cats trapped in an exterior shed devoid of food or water. The owner, Jordyn Hess, has been arrested and faces multiple charges for aggravated animal cruelty, but such charges must lead to appropriate punishment to serve as a deterrent against similar cases of abuse in the future.

Demanding accountability in this case is essential to protect animals from enduring such cruelty again. The alleged actions of neglect and abuse at this so-called rescue organization represent a profound violation of animal welfare standards and ethics. It is crucial that these individuals face imposition of the law for their actions to ensure justice for the animals and to uphold the sanctity of animal protection in our communities.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Assistant State Attorneys Davis and Shore,

A distressing situation at Hess Haven animal rescue has come to light, revealing shocking cruelty and neglect apparently inflicted upon over 40 animals. Authorities reportedly found numerous deceased animals, including cats tucked away in trash bags and a dog locked in a transport locker. Living conditions for the surviving animals allegedly were equally appalling, with many found without access to basic needs such as food and water while others lived among their deceased companions in filth. This treatment, as described by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, underscores the urgent need for justice.

We urge you to pursue appropriate punishment for those allegedly involved in this egregious case. Ensuring that such actions do not go unpunished will send a strong message against animal cruelty and reinforce the importance of compassion and care for all living beings. Thank you for your attention to this serious matter; the lives of many depend on it.

Sincerely,
