Stop Torturing Rabbits, Mice, and Dogs to Make Cosmetics

Target: Martin Makary, Commissioner of Food and Drugs, FDA

Goal: End animal testing in cosmetics and enforce regulations for cruelty-free alternatives.

Every year, countless rabbits, mice, and dogs are subjected to horrific testing practices for the sake of cosmetic products. These animals endure brutal treatments involving burns, poisoning, and blindness, only to be discarded once deemed “unusable.” This widespread cruelty continues despite the existence of safe, effective, and non-animal testing alternatives. It is imperative that this cruelty be acknowledged and put to a stop.

The Humane Society International reports that over 500,000 animals are used annually in cosmetic testing worldwide. Many well-known makeup brands engage in these outdated and inhumane practices while misleading consumers with claims of being “clean” or “responsible.” By purchasing products from these companies, consumers unknowingly support a cycle of suffering for innocent animals in laboratories. These animals suffer immensely for the sake of beauty, and it is essential to create awareness and encourage a shift towards cruelty-free options.

To protect these vulnerable beings, it is necessary to end animal testing in cosmetics and implement stringent regulations that promote cruelty-free alternatives. The demand for ethical beauty products is growing, and now is the time to act. Solutions are at hand, and choosing to support cruelty-free brands can signal an end to this horrific cycle of animal suffering.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Commissioner Makary,

Countless rabbits, mice, and dogs are subjected to tragic and inhumane testing practices for cosmetic products. These animals are burned, poisoned, or blinded and discarded once they are no longer considered “useful.” Shockingly, over 500,000 animals are used in cosmetic testing each year, despite the availability of effective alternatives. The cruelty inflicted upon these innocent animals must be addressed with urgency.

Many popular makeup brands still resort to outdated tests while misleading consumers about their “responsible” practices. By continuing to allow animal testing in cosmetics, the pain and suffering of these creatures are perpetuated. Consumers deserve to know the truth behind their beauty products, and animals deserve a life free from these torturous practices.

Therefore, we demand that you take immediate action to end animal testing in cosmetics and promote regulations that enforce the use of cruelty-free alternatives. It is time to stand against this unacceptable cruelty and ensure that no animal suffers for the sake of cosmetic products.

Sincerely,
