Demand Justice for Animals Rescued From “Uninhabitable” and “Absolutely Cruel” Conditions

Target: Josh Racki, County Attorney, Cascade County, MT

Goal: Bring appropriate charges and seek the maximum punishment for those allegedly responsible for keeping numerous animals in a home permeated with the scent of feces and ammonia.

The recent alleged discovery of horrific living conditions for animals in the community of Sun Prairie has left communities in shock and outrage. Reports indicate that 37 dogs, four deceased dogs, eight cats, a snake, five lizards, and a hedgehog were found in a property characterized by unsanitary conditions, with heavy odors of feces and ammonia permeating the home. A veterinarian’s professional assessment deemed the living conditions “absolutely cruel,” labeling the situation as “disgusting,” “uninhabitable,” and “inhumane.” It is reported that prior to the execution of the search warrant, several complaints had been made regarding the welfare of the animals, yet no substantial actions were taken until this disturbing scene was investigated.

Inside the residence, rescuers say they discovered the animals living in extreme neglect, with many housed in stacked kennels covered in feces and urine. Four dogs were also reportedly found dead, further emphasizing the dire situation. Sheriff Jesse Slaughter characterized this as a “complex and heartbreaking case,” stressing the need for accountability for those allegedly responsible for such large-scale animal cruelty.

It is imperative that appropriate legal action is taken against those involved in this alleged cruelty. Seeking justice for the animals impacted by this negligence is crucial to ensuring a safer environment for all creatures. The demand is clear: the Cascade County Attorney must bring forth robust charges and pursue the maximum penalties allowed by law for any individuals found to be responsible for this atrocious behavior.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear County Attorney Racki,

An egregious animal cruelty case in Sun Prairie has raised alarms of significant concern within the community and beyond. The alleged discovery of 37 living dogs, four deceased dogs, numerous cats, and various reptiles in atrocious living conditions strikes a deep chord of horror. Veterinarians have described the situation as “disgusting” and “inhumane,” noting that many animals were subjected to inhumane treatment in stacked kennels filthy with waste. This level of apparent neglect is not only shocking but demands immediate and decisive action.

Prior to the recent intervention, multiple reports of possible animal cruelty had been made regarding this property, with authorities visiting several times yet failing to take sufficient action. The fact that four dogs were reportedly found dead within these premises further emphasizes the urgent need for accountability. The described level of suffering cannot be tolerated in our community, and it is essential that individuals allegedly responsible are held accountable through appropriate legal measures.

Animals cannot advocate for themselves, and as such, their welfare rests in the hands of compassionate individuals like you. Justice must be served for the victims of this case to prevent such horrors from continuing to occur. Seek maximum punishment for those involved, so that we can begin to heal as a community dedicated to the safety and dignity of all living beings.

Sincerely,
