Take Action After Escaped Wolf-Dogs Allegedly Killed Beloved Pets

**Target:** Mayor Kim Morris, McMinnville, Oregon

**Goal:** Hold accountable those allegedly responsible for wolf-dog attacks that killed a beloved pet dog and two cats.

In an alarming incident that shook the community of McMinnville, Oregon, four wolf-dog hybrids allegedly escaped their owner’s property, leading to the tragic deaths of a Jack Russell terrier, named Roxy, and two cats. Eyewitnesses reportedly observed these animals during their gruesome attack, which has left residents distraught and fearful for the safety of their pets. This incident highlights a serious and ongoing issue with local animal control measures as many residents assert that these wolf-dogs have had a troubling history of roaming free and attacking other animals.

Jonathan Jacoby, a witness to this tragedy, expressed his anguish after discovering his mother’s dog had fallen victim to the wolf-dogs. His letter to the City Council revealed that this was not an isolated incident; rather, there have allegedly been numerous prior occurrences where Atwood’s dogs have roamed the neighborhood, resulting in previous attacks and citations. While Sandra Atwood claims that she made attempts to comply with city regulations, city officials contend that she has repeatedly skirted animal control laws and failed to properly confine her pets, which has ultimately put the community at risk.

Such tragic events underline the urgent need for accountability and reform in animal control policies within McMinnville. The current situation is dangerous both for neighboring pets and for the wolf-dogs themselves, who are not adapted to life in an urban environment. This petition demands that city officials take decisive action, ensuring that the ordeal faced by Roxy and other victims is not repeated, and that stricter regulations governing the ownership of potentially dangerous animals are implemented.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mayor Morris,

We, the concerned residents of McMinnville, are writing to concern our outrage over the incident involving two escaped wolf-dog hybrids that led to the deaths of a beloved dog and two cats on March 7. As reported, these animals escaped from the property of Sandra Atwood–which has happened before, resulting in previous citations. Witnesses have recounted the harrowing sight of the wolf-dogs attacking innocent pets, including the Jack Russell terrier, Roxy, leaving a community grieving and fearful.

Despite Atwood’s claims of attempting to comply with city regulations, it is reported that numerous infractions went unchecked prior to this tragic event. This is a dangerous situation both for neighboring pets and the wolf-dogs themselves, who could be put in harm’s way next time they escape. A humane solution must be found.

This community deserves safety for our pets and families, and those responsible must be held accountable. Therefore, we demand that appropriate actions are taken against to ensure the humane containment of potentially dangerous wild animals.

Sincerely,
