Applaud Invention of Water Filter for Typhoon Survivors

Target: WaterStep, Kentucky-based aid organization

Goal: Thank organization for inventing a water filter that is helping typhoon survivors get an abundance of clean water

During natural disasters, one of the most important factors is how to find clean water. In the past, different organizations would send thousands of cases of bottled water to these areas of need. Although it solved the water loss problem, it created a whole new one: plastic waste. WaterStep is an aid organization from Kentucky that came up with an amazing solution, which they call the M-100 Chlorine Generator. Though it does not look like much, the small water filter has the ability to generate up to ten thousand gallons of filtered drinking water per day. A volunteer team got a group of over 100 locals to learn how to operate and maintain the water filter. We must commend WaterStep for this indispensable invention.

According to the website Take Part, sixty of the water filters were already sent to the Philippines for Typhoon Haiyan relief. Typhoon Haiyan ruined the Philippines most impoverished areas and evacuated close to four million people. The invention has been able to provide the survivors with 1,000 gallons of water within one hour. This invention is a first of its kind because it has the ability to create a huge volume of clean water, which is why it is so extraordinary.

Please sign this petition to thank WaterStep and everybody else who is involved for creating the M-100 Chlorine Generator.

Dear Directors of WaterStep,

WaterStep has done amazing work this past year! Thank you for using smart technology to help the people that are most in need. The most devastating impacts that the world faces are natural disasters. During those times, this type of technology has the ability to help those who have suffered and lost a great deal in their lives. The effort that WaterStep has put into helping those in need by leveraging local connections is a powerful thing.

Thanks to the invention of the M-100 Chlorine Generator, people of the Philippines who suffered from last year’s Typhoon Haiyan will now be able to have clean drinking water. Your invention is saving thousands of lives every day, and that number just keeps on growing. Not only will it help the survivors of Haiyan have clean drinking water, this will in turn help the people of the Philippines gain back their health. Thanks to WaterStep, these survivors will never run out of clean water.
