Target: President Obama
Goal: Save deep-sea creatures by persuading our leaders to take more serious measures to slow global warming
A new study conducted by an international research team has surfaced serious concerns over the fate of creatures that live deep within the sea. As global warming causes water temperatures to rise, deep-sea ecosystems will suffer disastrous consequences. According to the study, even very remote ecosystems far below the ocean surface will face serious threats as water temperatures rise. Up to 38% of deep sea creatures in the North Atlantic may die within the next hundred years if trends continue. We must persuade our leaders, including President Obama, to take stronger actions to arrest global warming and save our oceans.
The research study has determined that food sources for deep-sea creatures will be severely reduced by global warming. Life at the ocean surface typically feed the deep-sea creatures as they die and float towards the bottom of the ocean. As the circulation of the ocean waters slow due to global warming, the ocean water will become more stratified. Scientists believe that this will result in much less nutrients drifting to towards the ocean floor to feed the sea live that lives further below the surface.
This study exposes a startling new aspect of the effects of global warming. The researchers hypothesize that the loss of marine life world wide due to global warming will exceed the weight of every person on the planet combined. Current trends cannot continue if we are to maintain the rich and diverse ecosystems that lie deep within our seas. We must demand that our leaders to more to combat global warming.
Senate President Obama:
A new study conducted by an international research team has determined that global warming will have disastrous effects on deep-sea creatures over the next 100 years. As much %38 of deep-sea creatures in the North Atlantic may perish if the current trends in global warming continue. As the leader of the nation that contributes more to global warming than any other, it is your duty to do more to address this issue.
The facts revealed by this study are alarming. The researchers have determined that the loss of marine life world wide due to increasing temperatures will exceed the weight of every person on the planet combined. The loss of diversity in our oceans would be catastrophic. I urge you to do much more to address the issue of global so that we can avoid these disastrous consequences.
