Demand Maximum Sentence for Serial Horse Abuser

Target: Mason County Attorney Hon. John Estill

Goal: Convict George Samuel Jones of animal cruelty for starving horses to death

George Samuel Jones of Mason County, Kentucky has been arrested on 16 counts of failure to dispose of horse carcasses and one count of animal cruelty, according to The Ledger Independent. This is not the first time that Jones has been charged with animal cruelty; and, the discovery of over a dozen horse carcasses is both gruesome and disturbing. This man belongs behind bars.

Back in 2010, Jones was charged with 30 counts of animal cruelty, for which he spent 180 days in jail. At that time, investigators found 30 horses and donkeys that were neglected to the point of starvation. Jones did not even provide them with their basic need of water.

In a recent article on, Mason County Sheriff Patrick Boggs stated that he found dead horses in various stages of decomposition on Jones’ property on Dec. 30, 2013. He also said that he has been called to Jones’ farm regularly on complaints of having his animals “running at large.” George Samuel Jones has proven that he did not take his previous arrest seriously. He has fallen back into his cruel and deadly routine and 16 horses paid the price with their lives. Now it is time for Jones to receive a punishment befitting of his crime.

By signing the petition below, you will encourage Mason County Attorney Hon. John Estill to prosecute George Samuel Jones to the full extent of the law.

Dear Hon. John Estill,

I was disturbed to learn of the Mason County Kentucky man George Samuel Jones’ deadly abuse towards the animals on his farm. On Dec. 30, 2013 investigators found 16 dead horses in various stages of decomposition on Jones’ property. While this is horrific in and of itself, Jones has a long history of animal abuse.

Back in 2010, Jones spent 180 days in jail for multiple animal cruelty charges that stemmed from Jones neglecting and starving 30 horses and donkeys in his care. He did not even provide them with their basic need of water.

George Samuel Jones clearly did not learn his lesson back in 2010 and 16 horses have paid the price with their lives. Please do everything in your power to see that this cruel and dangerous man is prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

The horses and donkeys deserve justice for the cruelty this human monster put them through. Lock him away and ban him from having any animal. If nothing is done he will just keep up the cruelty.

Please do away with this cruel evil

Through the ages even to this day, mankind as a whole has failed on all counts. Regardless, we must stay the course and fight for the innocent who have no voice and suffer everyday all over the world.

I would absolutely make the pledge to by only cage free products (eggs etc) if the prices were equal to or less (or even just a smidgen more) than regular eggs. I simply can’t afford to purchase otherwise. I saw 2dz cage free eggs at Whole Foods priced at $6+change. What’s up with that?

  5. Billy Holifield Billy Holifield says:

Anyone who willfully starves and/or otherwise neglects the care of any animal in his care should suffer as he has made said animal suffer. That would then be Justice served.

  6. Kathy Cilny says:

Any animal abuser should face maximum jail time ..and prosecuted as if the animal was a child…

  7. I hope justice is rendered to him and he rots in jail for a long time! The government and our justice system is corrupt so I hope someone steps up and is a voice for all those animals this sicko has been allowed to torture, murder, and abuse!

  8. Stephanie Stephenson says:

An appalling waste of life, especially for intelligent animals. The horse shares a hippocampus with us. Donkeys and horses are extremely loving, and trusting. The gentleman you speak of, from what has been provided, has a compulsive behaviour and must be cared for, whilst being banned from having care of animals, as I understand has been Law in the United Kingdom for some time, thanks in part to the efforts of charities like the R.S.P.C.A.

  9. Kathleen Williams says:

I agree with Kathy Stutler (FB). But the even bigger picture is not law enforcement, rather, it is changing the law itself. As long as animals are considered property from a legal standpoint, animals have no inherent rights and as a consequence, they will always suffer. As long as the law recognizes a living, sentient being as it would a piece of furniture, no punishment will ever provide bona-fide justice.
