Condemn Chinese Doctor for Stealing Babies

Chinese babies

Target: Head of Fuping County Maternal and Child Hospital

Goal: Ensure that an investigation is conducted within the hospital in order to stop all illegal trafficking

A Chinese doctor in Fuping County, China, has been accused of stealing newborn babies from their parents to sell on the black market. The formerly well-respected doctor lied to newborns’ parents by telling them their children were deathly ill in order to steal and sell the babies. This despicable act has been unveiled, and will not go unpunished. Zhang has gone to trial; the hospital where she was employed must investigate this case further to ensure that these kidnappings will not continue at the hospital.

The doctor’s name is Zhang Shuxia; she was employed at the Fuping County Maternal and Child Hospital. Zhang was close to retirement when her indiscretions were discovered. In order to steal the newborns, Zhang would tell the babies’ parents that the child had fatal congenital issues; she would urge that the appropriate measure was to sign documents to turn the babies over to the hospital. Over the period of eight months, Zhang sold seven babies to middlemen, who in turn would sell the babies to paying individuals on the street. The last baby Zhang tried to steal proved to be the end of her run: the baby’s mother sensed that her baby was abducted when she was denied seeing her supposedly deceased baby and alerted authorities.

The exposure of Zhang’s operation led to the discovery of a baby trafficking ring that operated in several provinces outside of Fuping County. Human trafficking is a major problem in China. Zhang Shuxia has had her trial; this incident must not be repeated, especially at the Fuping County Maternal and Child Hospital. Urge the hospital where she was formerly employed to investigate this problem to ensure it does not happen again within its walls.

Dear Fuping Country Maternal and Child Hospital,

A recent employee of your hospital has been charged with kidnapping newborn babies to sell on the black market. This incident has made national and international headlines; it is an incredibly grotesque incident that must not be allowed to be repeated.

Zhang Shuxia was accused of kidnapping and selling seven babies over the course of eight months; six of those seven babies have been returned to their parents. One baby died shortly after leaving its mother. These actions should have been stopped; I urge you to be more mindful of going-ons in your hospital, and stop these incidents if they occur in the future.

Please ensure that this heinous illegality is not, and will not, be a problem in your hospital any longer. I urge you to create awareness of human trafficking in China, and make an example out of this horrible situation.
