Target: Norman Willis, Executive Director of the Canadian Council on Animal Care
Goal: Ban celebrity singer from further pet ownership following multiple incidents of animal abuse
Justin Bieber is a wildly popular young star who has the money and power to be able to live carelessly and recklessly. However, this recklessness should not extend to the lives of innocent animals in his care. Again and again, Bieber’s neglect and outright abuse of his pets has been plastered all across social networking sites and across the new networks at large, and the international community has done very little to prevent him from further pet ownership. In fact, he has just required a new bulldog puppy, an animal that is at significant risk if the star’s past indiscretions are any indication.
Bieber’s long list of animal rights violations include a snake that he auctioned off, a hamster that he simply handed to a random screaming fan one night after a concert, and a 14-week old capuchin monkey that he not only tore from its mother before the baby could be separated from her, but then abandoned it at an animal shelter in Germany when he didn’t have the right papers to bring an exotic pet into the country.
The California Hamster Association has commented that hamsters “often succumb quickly to illness and death,” especially when faced with “sudden environmental change.”In short … “The moment that hamster was handed off to a screaming girl in a harsh, frenzied environment was likely the moment it gazed at the short path to its doom.” The hamster subsequently died, most likely in petrified fear. The capuchin monkey was left to languish in Germany after absolutely no one in Bieber’s large entourage had even the slightest bit of foresight to acquire papers necessary to bring an exotic animal into another country. Even the winning bidder of the baby boa constrictor that Bieber essentially sold off, Michael Kronick, was quoted as saying, “I found it really disgusting that celebrities like Bieber would stoop to a level of using living creatures as a fashion accessory and then so easily discard it.”
Please sign this petition to urge the Canadian Council on Animal Care to ban Justin Bieber from pet ownership so that we may prevent any further animal cruelty from this particular star, and to set a precedent for other rich and powerful people that they can not harm animals without consequences.
Dear Executive Director Norman Willis,
Canadian pop star Justin Bieber has committed several egregious acts of animal cruelty against exotic animals and pets. He has auctioned a baby boa constrictor to anyone who would pay for it, handed a terrified hamster off to a random passerby who subsequently let it die without proper care, and ripped a baby capuchin monkey out of its mother’s arms only to abandon it in Germany, motherless and alone.
His treatment of animals has been irresponsible and neglectful at best and cruel and abusive by general standards of animal care. Yet now he has just acquired a new toy for him to discard when he grows tired of it: a baby bulldog.
Please ban your citizen from owning any additional pets, and prevent this abuse from continuing. As an international community, we must begin to set a precedent that we will no longer tolerate the blatant and public abuse of animals.
