Target: Kathy Wadsworth, Director of the Office of Animal Research Oversight, UCLA
Goal: Stop the University of California from turning primates into meth addicts for research, and demand they release all records related to the experiments
The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), spends approximately $200 million dollars of public money every year on animal testing. They have been accused of turning primates into meth addicts, then killing them at the end of the experiment. Tell Director Kathy Wadsworth to stop these appalling experiments, and request that the university give Stop Animal Exploitation Now the records which the organization has requested from the laboratory.
Stop Animal Exploitation Now has filed a lawsuit against UCLA for failing to produce documents from the animal experiments being run at their laboratories. The university is accused of forcefully injecting primates with meth, thereby turning them into addicts. Allegedly, many of the primates died during the experiment and those that survived were killed afterwards.
The university doesn’t deny the allegations and they are refusing to release any records related to the care of the animals. As a public institution, using public dollars for their experiments, they have an obligation to the people to let us know what they are doing to the animals in their care. This appalling behavior cannot continue.
Demand Kathy Wadsworth stop all experiments on primates at her university labs and release all records related to these experiments for public review.
Dear Ms. Wadsworth,
The University of California is accused of forcefully injecting primates with methamphetamine, turning them into addicts, resulting in some of the primates dying. It is alleged that any primates which survived were killed by the laboratory staff at the end of the experiment.
The animal rights group Stop Animal Exploitation Now has demanded, and been denied, records from the laboratory such as veterinary care and necropsy reports. Your institution uses approximately $200 million a year in public money on animal experiments. You have an obligation to the people to be humane to, minimize the suffering of, and provide the best care for those animals. What your laboratory is accused of is appalling and your university will be held accountable by the people of this country.
We demand that you halt all primate experiments at the university, conduct a thorough and open review of how animals are treated at your laboratories, and release the records requested by Stop Animal Exploitation Now. This abuse of the animals in your care has to stop.
