Sign this petition to encourage other small businesses to support causes outside themselves.
While the issue of homeless animals is widespread throughout the country, it takes on a particular character in rural areas. Homeless animals that do not have the skills to survive on their own are often allowed to wander free. However, this makes them vulnerable to many dangers that they do not know how to avoid, such as vehicular accidents or starvation.
The Soledad Goat Cheese company found that it was uniquely situated to help such animals, and so acted upon that realization. It uses its farmland to offer goats, dogs, and other homeless animals a place that they can call home and use as a source of refuge. Signing this petition supports the work of Soledad Goat Cheese and encourages other small businesses to evaluate how they can utilize their resources to better serve the community around them.
Dear Julian and Carol Pearce, Owners of Soledad Goats,
It takes a kind and tender heart to extend one’s home to others, whether it be another person or another animal. The fact that Soledad Goat Cheese so willingly opens its arms to homeless animals is very moving, especially when considering that operating a small business is challenging in many ways. It can be difficult to cover costs or even earn a profit. However, you not only meet these objectives, but also extend assistance to animals that have nowhere else to turn.
The type of culture that you encourage by advertising your cheese as a philanthropic product is beneficial as a whole. As more people realize the type of difference that you are making, they will become more aware of the types of products that they purchase, and perhaps challenge themselves to be more conscientious consumers. The work that you carry out, whether it be with the animals themselves or the consumers that you interact with, is important in many ways. Thank you for all of your efforts.
