Target: Tom Matzzie, Founder and CEO of Ethical Electric
Goal: Commend efforts to promote clean energy and efficiency
Greenhouse gases are dramatically altering our world, and much of the problem stems from our energy consumption. The average American home will use a staggering 4,500 pounds of coal a year to produce electricity. This means that just one home’s need for electricity puts 9,000 pounds of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
Studies show that we are headed towards dangerous territory because of our great demand for energy. By 2016 we could see the planet warm two degrees, wreaking havoc on our ecosystems, food supply, environment and overall well-being. All of this results from one of the dirtiest and most toxic processes for producing electricity: burning coal. Nearly 50% of our energy comes from coal, but one company is effortlessly advocating to get that number down to 0%.
Ethical Electric, founded by Tom Matzzie, provides a clean, renewable, energy efficient switch from traditional coal or oil powered energy. By harnessing the natural power of the sun and wind, Ethical Electric buys clean electricity from local sources to power your home with no greenhouse gases ever emitted into the atmosphere. Ethical Electric also donates a portion of your monthly bill to causes that benefit the planet.
The company is dedicated to keeping costs as low as possible, with customers who make the switch noticing a change in their utility bills of just about 25 cents more a day, or roughly $7.00 a month. Ethical Electric powers homes and businesses in an environmentally conscious way which, in turn, reduces our dependency on fossil fuels and helps protect the planet from any further damage.
By signing this petition, you’ll commend Ethical Electric’s work to promote clean and efficient energy practices and support a greener world.
Dear Mr. Matzzie,
Your decision to create Ethical Electric is a fantastic step towards reducing our reliance on harmful, dirty fossil fuels, and proves that when businesses put ethics first, not only do their customers reap the benefits, but our world does too.
Since the 1700s, we’ve used oil, coal and even nuclear energy to power our homes and businesses, being totally apathetic to the fact that these fumes could severely harm our atmosphere. If we continue these dangerous practices, we’re headed towards irreversible damages that are not a matter of ‘if’, but ‘when.’ Thank you for your efforts to inform the public about the ways we consume energy, and for offering a green solution to this prevalent problem.
