Target: Molly Ortwein, Breast Cancer Survivor and Founder of Personal Ink

Goal: Support Molly Ortwein’s efforts to facilitate the healing process for breast cancer survivors, using tattoos

For breast cancer survivors, the trauma of the disease remains with them in many ways. One of the most apparent manifestations of the trauma is in the scarring that results from surgeries and mastectomies. For many women, these scars are constant reminders of the pain that they were forced to endure. Personal Ink helps women to deal with their scars by creating a tattoo design over them, thereby transforming the marks into something beautiful. Sign this petition to support Personal Ink’s mission to support women (and men) who get tattoos in order to transform their scars.

Breast cancer is such a pervasive disease that almost everyone knows at least one person who has been affected by it – if not multiple people. It is challenging both physically and emotionally. For many women, their breasts are such a strong personal symbol of their femininity that to lose them, or have them operated upon, can strike at the heart of their identity. Personal Ink is transformative because it allows women to continue seeing their breasts as a positive part of their identity, with the help of tattoos that represent courage and grace. Molly Ortwein has courageously shared her own personal story, struggles, and tattoos of her breasts, in order to inspire other women. Her openness is encouraging other women to share their stories in order to help them recover from their traumas and move forward.

Providing ways through which breast cancer survivors can become empowered is an important part of the recovery process. Sign the petition to support the innovative efforts of Personal Ink to create a space for strength for these individuals.

Dear Ms. Ortwein, Breast Cancer Survivor and Founder of Personal Ink,

When suffering from breast cancer, it can be easy for victims to fall into a sense of helplessness and sadness. Your organization, Personal Ink, addresses this issue by giving women a tool to make them feel less helpless and reduce the sadness that comes with the loss or disfigurement of breasts. Personal Ink supports women who use tattoos to beautify their breasts after suffering from cancer.

The support network that you have created gives women the strength to share their journeys in overcoming breast cancer and thereby lend support to other women who are fighting the disease. The ability to turn something painful into something beautiful is powerful. Presonal Ink harnesses this ability by supporting women who wish to share their tattoos, as well as how those tattoos have helped them on a personal level.
