Commend Airport for Building an Animal Care Facility

Target: Aaron Perl, managing director of the ARK at JFK project

Goal: Applaud JFK airport for making the comfort of traveling animals a priority

The JFK International Airport in New York is scheduled to open an animal care facility in 2015. Called ARK, it will provide of veterinary services, kenneling capability and a quarantine area for potentially ill animal guests. This facility will be a world-class animal handling facility when finished and will offer traveling animals the best possible care in many different aspects.

The animal care facility currently in place at JFK, the Vetport, will be phased out and replaced by ARK when it is finished, in 2015. ARK will provide many luxuries that traveling animals do not always have at airports: dog and cat grooming; a large area for exercise; an equine medical and service practice, as well as an equine pre-flight rest and observation area; a rehabilitation center for horses and other large animals.

The facility will make traveling a more enjoyable experience for animals and will also create more efficient ways for transporting animals. Traveling can take a toll on an animal’s mental and physical well-being. While often times the best advice is to leave one’s animal family at home while traveling, this is not always an option. Animals stopping in New York while traveling by air may actually have an enjoyable time, thanks to the extra care that JFK airport is giving this facility.

Commend JFK airport for this all-encompassing animal facility.

Dear Aaron Perl, Managing Director of the ARK at JFK project,

A state-of-the-art animal care facility is set to open at the JFK International Airport in 2015. The ARK is a 32 million dollar endeavor that will provide many comforting amenities to traveling animals. The ARK will encompass many necessities as well as luxuries to dogs, cats, horses and livestock such as grooming, veterinary care, exercise areas and a rehabilitation center for horses and other large animals.

Traveling is an incredibly stressful activity, for humans and animals alike. Animals will often become mentally or physically ill due to the high stress atmosphere of travel. This facility will offer many ways for dogs, cats, horses and other animals to unwind and focus on something other than all of the strange things going on.

I commend you for directing this facility, and I ask that you keep the welfare of the animals you are serving in mind at all times. The plans for this facility have a lot of positive potential, and will hopefully set the score for airports everywhere that handle animals.
