Target: U.S. Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security
Goal: Urge the U.S. Military to stop using animals in brutal and unnecessary military medical exercises.
The United States Military is one of only five countries belonging to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization which still allow animals to be tortured in brutal military medical exercises. Goats and pigs are needlessly subjected to being stabbed, shot and even set on fire, when there are synthetic simulators available for the military to use for medical training. We need to urge the U.S. Military to ban the use of animals in all of their military medical exercises.
In 2012, PETA conducted an undercover investigation that revealed that the Tier 1 Group, which has a 2 million dollar contract with the United States Navy, was cutting off the limbs of live goats with tree trimmers for medical training exercises. Undercover video footage, shows the poor animals kicking and moaning in pain as they are repeatedly stabbed, cut and tortured. To make matters worse, the video shows the instructor whistling while he works and Coast Guard members joking about writing a song about the tormented animals.
22 NATO countries have already taken the step of stopping the use of animals in their military medical tests. Recently, Poland was added to that group. The United States has the ability to join these nations in using human patient simulators rather than live animals in their tests. We must encourage the U.S. Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security to ban the use of animals in military medical exercises.
By signing this petition below, you will urge the U.S. military to ban the use of animals in medical military tests.
Dear U.S. Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security,
The United States is one of only five NATO countries that still allow animals to be tortured in brutal military medical exercises. With the availability of human patient simulators, there is no need to continue to torture animals in this way. As Poland has demonstrated, it is never too late to make the compassionate decision to stop using animals in military tests.
Not only is the United States still performing these brutal experiments, they are also neglecting to properly anesthetize their animal test subjects. A 2012, PETA undercover video shows goats kicking and moaning in pain as they are repeatedly stabbed, cut and tortured.
I am encouraging you to ban the use of animals in all United States military medical tests and exercises.
