Goal: Applaud Coca-Cola for donating 2.5 million dollars to help victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines
As of November 18, Coca-Cola suspended all advertisements from all major media channels in order to assist those affected by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. In a recent statement, Coca-Cola informed the public that the organization hopes to uplift and aid communities in need. They have already pledged 2.5 million dollars in cash and made bottled water donations. Thank Coca-Cola for their generosity in a time of great need.
Coca-Cola is a multinational and multi-billion dollar beverage corporation best known for its flavorful sodas. But now, this organization may gain new fame for donating 2.5 million dollars in cash and in-kind contributions towards disaster relief for Typhoon Haiyan victims. It donated 1 million dollars in assistance, and have also provided 1 million dollars to the American Red Cross. In addition, they donated 129,000 cases of water to communities in need. Many other successful businesses across the world have also made large donations, and every dollar helps to make a difference.
Haiyan, which struck in early November, is considered the deadliest Philippine typhoon on record and killed over 5,200 people. It is estimated that 11 million people have been injured, lost family members, or been rendered homeless as a result.
In lieu of the disaster, Chairman Muhtar Kent said, “We would like to express our deepest sympathies to those affected by this tragic disaster…our dedicated associates are on the ground offering assistance, and we are committed to helping the communities rebuild.” Indeed, if all the world’s wealthy and successful shared this mindset and contributed even a small portion of their income to help in times of great need, they could change many lives.
Thank Chairman Kent for making a generous donation that not only saves struggling human beings but sets an example for other successful businesses to follow.
