Target: Mars, Incorporated
Goal: Stop using unsafe food dyes in candy that may cause harm to children
Halloween season has just ended and almost every child in America has a huge bag of candy from trick-or-treating this year. But do you know what is really in your child’s bag of candy? The Food and Drug Administration has warned the public of products found in Mars’ processed candies that may cause cancer and hyperactive behavior in children. Mars Company needs to recognize the health problems that their product is causing and replace the harmful ingredients with better natural ingredients.
The problem is specifically found in food coloring dye used to make the hard candy coating for a majority of their candy, such as their very popular M&M’s chocolates. The candy contains petroleum-based food dyes, which has been found by the Center for Science in the Public Interest to cause hyperactivity in young children. Studies have also shown that children’s behavior became much worst after consuming these types of food dyes. This problem has gotten parents all over the world worried about what exactly are in the treats they are giving their children. There are a number of alternative ingredients out there that Mars can use instead of petroleum and it is time to bring that to light of the candy makers.
By signing this petition below, you will help urge Mars and other American candy makers to stop the use of unsafe petroleum-based food dyes in their candy and adopt healthier ingredients instead.

Please stop the use of petroleum-based artificial food dyes in your candy. The use of this ingredient is not necessary, because there are other natural and healthy ingredients that can be used to color your candy instead.
