Commend Chihuahua’s Fight Against Animal Hoarding

Target: Director of the website

Goal: Raise awareness about the problem of animal hoarding and its harmful effects.

Animal hoarding is a serious problem, often fueled by breeders trying to sell animals quickly and anonymously.  Often, “backyard breeders” will illegally breed their animals and sell them online. This is particularly common in cities, where there are often restrictions that make it unlawful to own more than three to four dogs at a time. As a result, unlicensed animal breeders keep their animals completely indoors, never allowing them to stop foot outside. Additionally, to keep breeding the animals, fathers are often mated to daughters, and brothers to sisters.   The purpose of this petition is to raise awareness about animal hoarding.

Animal hoarding situations can also stem from mental problems. Some people use pets as a coping mechanism for feelings of insecurity and inadequacy. Whether an animal hoarding situation is profit-driven or driven by mental disease, the effects are the same. Animals are victimized. They are malnourished, have emotional problems, and often have physical defects. In one hoarding situation in Los Angeles, over forty dogs were rescued from a suburban home. Many had serious birth defects, even lacking front legs.

One of the dogs rescued from this hoarding situation was Rosie, an inbred Chihuahua that suffered a host of problems: scoliosis; malformed teeth that made it difficult to eat; deformed legs that caused her to walk like a crab, and hairless skin that was extremely sensitive to sunlight. But, from this darkness came some good. Rosie was adopted by Cinnamon, a compassionate owner who turned Rosie’s story into a source of inspiration by documenting Rosie’s story on the hopeful website, By showing how much love Rosie had to offer, while also raising awareness about the problem of animal hoarding, Cinnamon created something positive out of an otherwise terrible situation.  Support and its effective methods of raising awareness about animal hoarding.

Dear Cinnamon, Director of Everything Rosie:

Your passion and spirit about Rosie has been an incredible gift to the world. When you share her story, you give hope to all owners of animals with birth defects, while also raising awareness about the serious problem of animal hoarding. Rosie’s story has grown in popularity because of its sincerity. While Rosie recently passed away, her purpose and mission live on.

The purpose of this petition is to show support for everything that Rosie had done and to continue your efforts to raise awareness about animal hoarding. It is touching to learn about the beautiful bond that you and Rosie shared, and how you were able to love her in spite of the harmful effects she suffered from being inbred. Despite the fact that Rosie is no longer with us, please continue to write, sharing memories of Rosie and advocating for other animals who are undiscovered victims of animal hoarding.
