Force Bush Administration to Pay for War Crimes

Target: Barack Obama, President of the United States

Goal: Rescind immunity for war crimes convictions of the Bush administration

The Kuala Lumpur War Crimes Commission recently found several members of former President George W. Bush’s administration guilty of war crimes. Former president Bush, former Vice President Dick Cheney, former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, and several other members of the administration were all found guilty of war crimes by the court in Malaysia. President Obama recently granted “absolute immunity” for all of the convicted parties, keeping them safe so long as they remain in the States. This is a perversion of justice, and we demand that Obama rescind his promise of immunity.

The Bush administration was found guilty of planning and engaging in the Iraq war against international law, and of committing torture while engaged in war. Many other heads of state have been tried for similar crimes and faced the consequences, the Bush administration should not be exempt simply because its members live in the United States.

President Obama wants to keep the Bush administration safe so that he can keep himself safe for similar crimes. The right thing to do would be to stop violating international law by ending the detainment and torture of foreign citizens, and to allow the Bush administration to be brought to justice. We demand that Obama rescind his grant of immunity to the Bush administration, and to allow international courts to do justice.

Dear President Obama,

Recently you granted “absolute immunity” to former President Bush and his administration from their convictions as war criminals. The Kuala Lumpur War Crimes Commission found the top members of the Bush administration guilty of violating international law by planning and engaging in the Iraq war, and by torturing prisoners during the war. These members of the administration are guilty of war crimes, and they should be held accountable to the world.

The only reason you would defend these criminals is if you are guilty of the same crimes. If you would stop the illegal detention and torture of foreign citizens you would no longer be in violation of international law. Avoiding due justice does not make the Bush administration innocent, and it will not make you innocent. You must allow the international criminal courts to take their course to preserve America’s standing in the world. We urge you to revoke your grant of immunity for the Bush administration.

  1. It should also be remembered that not only are American political figures guilty of these war crimes, British politicians are equally guilty of the same crimes. And like their American counterparts they are also guilty of the killing of thousands of allied military personnel and untold numbers of civilians, both men, women and children.
These politicians should all face the executioner for their crimes against humanity.
