Commend Non-Profit for Empowering Immigrant Women to Become Entrepreneurs

Target: Marga Fripp, Founer of Empowered Women International

Goal: Commend the promotion of women’s education and entrepreneurship

Empowered Women International (EWI) is a non-profit organization that promotes the entrepreneurial success of low-income, immigrant and refugee women in the Greater Washington DC Metro area. Since 2002, EWI’s founder, Marga Fripp, has been creating entrepreneurial opportunities for underrepresented and marginalized women through her progressive, two-semester training program that teaches financial planning and literacy, as well as global business, income generation and personal development.

A native of Romania, Fripp was once a journalist producing programs focused on women’s equality, human rights and orphans during Romania’s transition from Communist regime. She was banned from broadcasting in 1996 after her eye-opening portrayal of post-Communist government. After moving to the US, Fripp struggled to take care of her children, learn English, and run a household. She sought to help other women who faced similar battles.

In today’s world, only 6.5% of private companies have a female CEO and only 10% of Fortune 500 companies are led by women. Those numbers are even smaller, and non-existent for immigrant and refugee women. Through EWI’s training, women become self-sufficient agents of change and transform their lives by tailoring business models to their personal tastes.

By signing this petition, you will commend the efforts of Empowered Women International and its founder Marga Fripp for her fearlessness in the field of women’s education and entrepreneurship.

Dear Marga Fripp,

I am writing you today to commend you for the creation of Empowered Women International. For over a decade you’ve given a voice to immigrant, refugee, low-income women and supported them through their creation of successful businesses and better lives.

In the male dominated field of business and entrepreneurship, your organization seeks to break barriers, create opportunities and promote integration. Through your efforts, you’ve turned the organization from a volunteer-run program to an award-winning organization where women are confident in their abilities and achieve great strides in the fields of business and the arts.

Thank you for your valorous efforts and I hope you continue to be a powerful force for social change, opportunity, female empowerment and philanthropy.
