Target: North Korean Foreign Ministry & Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un
Goal: Grant special amnesty to imprisoned American Kenneth Bae on humanitarian grounds
Kenneth Bae is a 45-year-old father of three from Lynnwood, Washington who has been sentenced to 15 years of hard labor in North Korean Labor Camps. He is a respectable businessman and Christian missionary who has been wrongfully tried and convicted as supposedly taking part in anti-government activities. This couldn’t be further from the truth, as Mr. Bae was in North Korea because of his love for the country and the people.
Over three years ago, Kenneth Bae opened a tour company in China that led tours into the North Korean province of Ranson, a special economic zone for foreign investors. Over the course of two years, he led more than 15 tours in the region, sharing his love for the North Korean land and people with his clients. His family speaks very fondly about his love for this area of the world.
Then, one day out of the blue, on November 3rd, 2012, Mr. Bae was arrested while on North Korean territory, and accused of anti-government activities. He was swiftly placed into hard labor camps, working 6 days per week plowing and farming, and sentenced to a term of 15 years.
A recent video sent to Mr. Bae’s family shows him in very poor health, and they could see that he has lost over 50 pounds since being forced into the camps last November. He has several health problems that require a monitoring from a doctor, including an enlarged hearth, diabetes, and severe back pain. These are problems that are worsening each day with the stress of forced labor, and will lead to Mr. Bae’s early demise if he isn’t released from this labor camp. Please sign this petition and urge the government of North Korea to consider Mr. Bae’s case from a humanitarian standpoint, and release him to the U.S. Government.
Dear Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un & The North Korean Foreign Ministry,
American citizen and 45-year-old father of three, Kenneth Bae has been convicted of anti-government acts against your government and sentenced to a term of 15 years in your labor camps. Please reconsider this case on humanitarian grounds, and offer that Mr. Bae be granted Special Amnesty from your government.
Kenneth Bae and his entire family speak highly of his time in your country prior to being arrested. He loved North Korea, the people, and the culture so much that he went into business as a tour operator in near-by China in order to run tours in Ranson. He spoke of how he wanted to help the ailing North Korean economy, and how he wanted to share his love of North Korea with others by guiding them on tours in the area. He successfully guided over 15 tours over the course of 2 years before being arrested.
Mr. Bae suffers from serious medical conditions that will certainly lead to his early demise if not released from your hard labor camps. He has diabetes, severe back pain, liver problems, and an enlarged heart, that needs to be under the care of his medical professional. Forced labor will exuberate his condition, and surely cause his death. His family, especially his three kids, are extremely worried about their father’s condition.
Please reconsider the case of Mr. Kenneth Bae, as he is not a threat to your government and is only a regular man who would like to return to his family safely. Please grant him amnesty on humanitarian grounds.
